All cards are different. For some reason my Gigabyte R9550 which has Hynix 4.0ns memory clocks as high as 290(580DDR), while others won't even reach that high. Try overclocking it in small increments and see what you can get.

Also, if you see 500 they are probably refering to it's DDR clock speed which would be 250x2(500DDR). :p

Thank you sweeper, now I understand the 500 memory clock. :D

I'm thinking about using this Bios:
GeCube 9600 Pro 128 MB 398/203 Hynix 5.0

Its the only 9600 PRO with Hynix 5.0..

Any tips?

Thanks

Depends.... does your core run at 400MHz without artifacts or heat problems? The core on the R9550 is 250. When you flash it it will run at 400 all the time. Make sure your core can handle it.

My Sapphire 9550 with Hynix 5ns ram didn't like being flashed - it worked fine in windows but the BIOS was really slow and jumpy at boot. I can only go to 216MHz without Artifacts with my RAM. For my 9600 bios I just used RaBiT to change the clocks and changed device ID to end with 52 rather than 53 using my own bios. Windows thinks its a 9600.

Using Atitool my max clocks are 420/230*2.

I'm going to flash with the GeCube 9600 PRO and then use atiTool for the final adjustments.

The new ATi drivers gave me over 200 extra points. That score is with Balanced in Catalyst COntrol Center and default 3Dmark settings. If I put the settings to performance and the resolution to its lowest I can get 2767. Didn't think I should put that score though because its kind of cheating...

The flash with the GeCube 9600 128 PRO 400/203 Hynix5.0 went wrong :(

But thanks to the guides of the forum I'm back with my old Asus 9550 128 250/200..

I heard that ASUS uses it's own type of bios, so best to hlash an ASUS with an ASUS bios. I believe there is an 9600Non-Pro bios with hynix4.0 or 5.0.
The 4.0 or 5.0 doesn't matter, only make sure that you set the MHZ of the mem correct so your card won't give artifacts.

The score was definately 2767. I couldn't believe it either because I know 9550s aren't that good. I think Futermark messed up the settings when you change the resolution - it should really get the score taking resolution into account. While the games were tests were running the resolution was so poor you could harly even tell which game it was. If you turn off all the performance dcreasing settings in 3D mark and Catalyst Control Center, you can really bump up your score. My real score used to be 1284 until the 5.3 drivers, but now its passed the 1500 mark. I'll try running the tests again and post the pics, which I guess to tell the truth wouldn't be too hard to fake anyway. I'll get the details as well.

3D Mark Score - sorry for the size

This is the score, like I said. I did manage 2772, but then I had to retest because I forgot to turn on all of the tests. With them all on I still got 2768, a point more than last time!

Drivers

Has anybody tried Omega drivers?
My friend had ASUS 9600xt,and he had problems with it until he installed them.
I.E. he barely could play MOH:pacific at 800x600 16bit!!!!

You can owerclock with them, and they have softmode included.
As you can see they work fine with older equpment, but I would like to hear other opinion.
And they are by defalt tuned for stability and quality, not speed.
My other friend use them with his Atlantis 9600pro allso

I once did try the Omega drivers, but on both my PCs the 5.1 driver wouldn't install properly and I couldn't run any 3D games. Then when I unistalled it it stayed on my PC and started working but kept crashing - i gave up and went back to ATi.

I don't think they normally have too much of a performance increase, and they normally come out a week or two late i think. You should try giving them a go and see what happens. You can always eventually change back to ATi once you actually manage to unistall it.

I did :) I use them for couple months (7-8).Diferent versions offcourse.
My 3 frends allso use them on atlantis 9600pro, asus 9600xt,sapphire 9600xt.

Right now it is 2.5.97a and they are made on Catalyst 4.12
I had slight jump of performance of about 100 3D marks in 3DMark03 (I can`t remmember exact numbers) from 980 - 1190 without owerclock (stock 250/200)
With OC 306/230 I got 1300.
I was even more suprised with this result, beacouse my card is preaty old.
Sorry beacouse can`t send screenshot,I erased it with last format.

When you tested Omega drivers you probably haven`t moved all traces of old drivers.
Or your windows could handle more driver change.Same thing happened to me.

As you noticed they are somewhat difficult to deinstall.
Procedure is:

Full Uninstall Instructions (Method #2):

1. Uninstall "ATI Display Drivers (Omega x.xx.xx)" and "RadLinker" from Windows
ControlPane| Add/Remove Programs.

2. Restart the PC in SAFE MODE. (Keep pressing F8 before the Windows boot screen appears)

3. Run Driver Cleaner Omega Edition and click start to remove the remaining files and registry
entries.

4. Run "Uninstall Omega Drivers Setup Files" from the Start Menu.

5. Restart and just install any driver you want.

And just for the record 3Dmark can lie.
Couple times in 03 I got 6650 marks.AND that is impossible for my card.
That happened only if i set 3 repeats for test,on default sethings.
Mistake was in Test:Batle of Proxicon. In results it was writen 197 fps
And that is fucking impossible

It can`t even run all the tests.Mark05 won`t even start (DX 8.1 commpatible)

The mistake was in test-Battle of Proxicon it scored 197 fps.
Every other test was real exept this one.

How I can upgrade the bios? Because it's ViVo an with hynnix 5ns? With 3dmark 03 i reached 3106 with a AMD Athlon Barton 3000+ and 512MB DDR 400 on a Asus mono A7V600...
