Hi Guys, My first post on the forums besides adding my case to the gallery (liquid fusion if you fancy a look)

There looks to be a fair few clued up users on this forum so I think it only fitting to use my first post to ask a question I have so far been unable to get a definitive answer for.

I am currently using a Asus CROSSHAIR nForce 590 Here and find it to be a great motherboard. So want to transplant it across to my next planned project.

However I hope to use the Lian-Li PC V1000 PLUS case. The motherboard with therefore be mounted upside down. The system is watercooled so I am using the supplied Asus fan to remove heat from the heatpipe on the motherboard.

With the motherboard upside down , can anyone see any major problems this will cause to the function of the heatpipe as I am not 100% sure if they need to be mounted with the fins and fan higher than the heat source, I would assume so.

Any help would be much appriciated, Regards

The heat will flow from hot to cold through the heat pipes (cold being the fins) no matter what, so orientation of the board does not matter. I recommend having those active fans thou.

It should not cause a problem. Like KTR said, the will flow through the heat pipes. The only draw bakc that I can see is that heat rises, so you might see some slightly increased temps, but if you have a fan, that wont be a problem.

Asus's heatpipe configs work, even with the motherboard turned upside down. My roommate has an Asus p5b with the heatpipe solution inverted in his Lian-Li, don't remember the model, and it doesn't have any heat issues what so ever.

So yeah, three agreements. :)

Yeah and make sure you have some decent airflow. With water cooling, you dont have to worry about your CPU at all. Even your Video Cards if you got them on the loop. Two intake and one outake (with a top mounted for venting rising heat) should be plenty. I think you will be fine.
