I was in a toss up.. I was going to go with teh Forte but then I saw the echo canceling and just was sold.. Even if I didn't look into problems, Like I did when I was looking at the Forte... I should of got the Forte.. I'm kickin' my A$$ now! From reviews it's even stated the Forte was better.. Grrrrr

Yeah I've been bitten by that in other situations when something had a feature I really wanted, but the competition didn't have that feature, but was rated better overall and more popular...it does suck, and I hope you do get it sorted because that card should be one sweet piece of hardware. Again, hope you get it sorted..I'd love to hear how it works once you get things going. Wish I knew more about em' to help ya out...keep us posted man.

Tried it in every slot below my video card. I even took the video card out, placed it in slot 3, and tried the second pci-e slot... Nothing but the same error..

Well, I went in and just took the dive.. bought the Forte.. Sending the card back...

Thanks MK!

The Forte is an awesome sound card, you'll be happy with it;). Though is sad you had to pass that hell with the DX.

The only drivers I have used are the new beta drivers, but I did install all of the programs off the DVD. The headphone amp works quite well and also amplifies the FP panel headphone output too. One program I see being handy in the future is the auto-mode switcher. It doesn't work well in Vista because it'll kill anything outputting sound at the time of the mode switch (Xp and 7 don't have this problem in my experience, and it's always been like this with Vista).

But everything works great, I've had no issues, and nothing but great sound from the forte. I have nothing but praise for that little card that can. I hope you got it from the NCIX sale though, they had it for around $85 on sale.

No, I live in Spain and had to buy it directly from Auzentech as when I wanted to buy it, the card hadn't even showed up here:cool:. Nevertheless, and seen the prices they go now in Spain, I got it quite cheap. You see, with express shipping I had the card at home in 3 days for $185 aprox (130 €); right now, that same card costs, in Spain, 145 € + shipping. So, I'm quite happy with the deal:rockout::rockout::rockout:

Good to hear. I may do a win 7 install come tomorrow after work.. I only have to do a few hours since I have almost 140 hours this paycheck and a few days to go... lol

I've also heard that between the forte and the stx card, most people sent the stx card back since it's more of a HTPC that doesn't run any games... so I'm loving it. Plus I got opamps to repair anything I need sound wise!

Well, problem solved! The Asus card is sent back, and the Auzen card is in the computer..

Funny stuff... I went to send the Asus card back, I got home, and the USPS guy dropped off the Auzentech!!

It's in and running! I didn't have to dick (sorry for the term) around to get it to even go! So, I can even rule out that it was my pci-e slot.
