Well.....I'm kind of a newb around this joint , but I think Wizzards reviews are really well put together and I enjoy reading them. I'm not to smart with the computing stuff , but I learn a lot when I read one of his reviews....as I do with a lot of stuff I read at this place.

Good job Wiz!

Intoducing the ASUS Xonar 11.1 W1zzard Edition, the single most awesome sound card on the planet. Experience games like never before, with sound so crystal clear it'll blow your mind.

"When designing this product, I really wanted to give people a whole new perspective on sound when it somes to gaming." W1zzard said in an interview. "I firmly believe that the ASUS Xonar 11.1 W1zzard Edition will take gaming to a whole new level. I thought it would be awesome to offer clear sound from nearly every angle around the gamer and when you factor in the ASUS Xonar 11.1 W1zzard Edition's ability to project sound directly to your brain, it's pretty clear no other card on the market will do for the hardest of the hardcore."

Don't take his word for it, read what users actually have to say!

"Dude, seriously. This card just works AMAZINGLY. I got it set up, and installed the drivers that came with it. I decided I'd try it out with Half-Life 2, which is my favorite game and everything just sounded so tight. It literally felt like bullets were wizzing past my head and I actually ducked behind my desk a couple of times. When I got to Ravenholm, I started to hear voices inside my head, it was crazy. Stuff like 'eeeeerocker, W1zzard's out of coooooke, send money to his paypal account' and 'good lord man, wear pants when you're playing.'! It was crazy! This sound card is just straight up dope!" ~Erocker

"After I installed the card in my machine, I fired up Diablo 3. I heard a cackling in my ear that seemed to come from right behind me on the right hand side, but when I looked no one was there. A friend called me on the phone and he was freaking out because he couldn't understand a word I was saying. He kind of freaked out. Then next thing I know, I'm tied up in bed with a catholic priest standing over me driving a freaking demon out. Unbelievable!" ~Kreij

"It doesn't work. AT ALL." ~crazyeyesreaper

"I put this in my computer and immediately went to my favorite free porn site. Put on something with Gianna Michaels. It was like I was actually inside her. Thank god I didn't go for the goatse first." ~DannibusX

i wouldnt make any such statement about an audio device. using 15 year old speakers that i literally pulled from the trash.

but i'll gladly look at a graphics card that projects pretty pictures in my brain

In all seriousness, it's awesome that you're recognized for your work. You review is the reason I'm putting my hard earned pennies together for one or more of these cards.

one of these days one of these companies is going to make a TechPowerUp! special edition card with w1zzard's signature on it.

That idea is real.

Isn't it odd that something that has several listed negatives could receive a 10?
Is not a 10 an indication of perfection a.k.a. no flaws?

Memory not overclocked out of the box - for the price and what they've done, surely a pre OC would have been a given?
Dynamic OC can't be turned off - annoying
Manual overclocking more complicated than before - so they didn't OC it for you and it's harder to do yourself

9.5 would have been better, because these issues are actually issues.

Sometimes I think bedded relationships with manufacturers isn't out of respect or acknowledgement but simply another means of free advertising - like the Gelid TPU stamping.

As far as I know the Dynamic OC can be turned off with PowerStrip or other third party oc software. Can anyone confirm that?
Do you know if they chips have much overhead to overclock? Maybe the binning of ram would have driven the cost of the card up.

Maybe it works but ..using third party program to disable it? Does that not constitute annoying?

Don't make us barf... 'signature' is so passe it's pathetic, from vehicles to tennis shoes to golf clubs.

Consider that John Carmack is amazing..he doesn't need to stand around in a studio for an hour with some real audiophile engineers, listen to a few different samples of hardware and then like a patient in an ear exam go 'left, right, green, red, right, right' followed by a thumbs-up and lastly a white sharpie pen signature on the side of the headphones.

Wiz plugs hardware in, runs some software, writes down some numbers and uploads it to the website. There's thousands of others already doing it and arguably better.

He has other things he does, things he's better at, things that are really worth the attention of manufacturers - which I fear go unnoticed as TPU goes more from being respectable to being hip - which will always be the way as long as TPU is driven by it's forums first and the rest of the site second.

Why would John Carmack be putting his name on audio equipment? I'm pretty sure hes a programmer. As a matter of fact I don't think you know what you are talking about.

I will just say I NEVER use vender (my vender at least) software to overclock (I use Afterburner sometimes, but I don't have an MSI card.)

Wiz plugs hardware in, runs some software, writes down some numbers and uploads it to the website. There's thousands of others already doing it and arguably better.

I disagree, I remember discussing SSD reviews with W1zz back when the drives were first coming out and before TPU was publishing reviews for them. He would not review them because TPU did not have as solid of a test bench in place as storagereview and there was no point in cloning someone elses methods. I gained a lot of respect for TPU after that conversation. Turning down free stuff as a hardware junky is a true sign of integrity in my book.
