no sata-express on the ROG board? :wtf:

why bother with M.2 ssd that will be more expensive than standard 2.5in sata express?

I guess it makes sense to exclude SATA Express from gaming boards, since it would only slightly lower load times compared to SATA III, and keeps the cost down on these boards, leaving money for features aimed at gamers. It also shows the gradual separation of "enthusiasts" from "gamers", since a lot of gamers don't care about overall performance, only gaming performance. More choices will help everyone find the right board for each type of build - that's one of the benefits of upgrading to Z97, more variety, like all the mini-ITX offerings, and the Deluxe board with or without the $110 NFC & WLC. Asus just keeps getting better, and even if I wait for Broadwell, one of these boards has my name on it...

Its a good thing there is no SATA express on these boards. After reading user manual for Gigabyte G1.gaming GT motherboard, I think SATA Express is going to be a mess to start with. It needs two SATA 6Gbps ports + special pci-e connector to work with a single drive. If anybody is interested the said manual visit the link: https://www.google.co.in/url?sa=t&r...=3VMOTcCpF3Bo7AeBplFwSw&bvm=bv.65788261,d.c2E

You will change at least one or two motherboards before you need this sata express...
depends, I still have my sandy bridge system, bought in the very first days of sandy, so 3 years ago, and I think that with this performance bumps from intel one can keep a system for 3 years no problem.

Anyone notice the prices on these Z97 motherboards..... they are higher than the last gen. I hope it's just a pre- order situation.

I want to pick up a board but right now... seem like to big of a price for too little gain.

On another note.....anyone know if Asus is releasing another ROG ITX board? Or is there one planned.... I haven't seen once announced however I hope its coming. Possibly when the Maximus Extreme VII releases?

Any news about the Impact miniITX one ? Or we have to wait for a while to see it because "miniITX boards are a bit longer/harder to make" ?
