Dear all, I hv asus rog maximus viii formula and an intel core i7 6700k cpu and the issue is even with stock settings (no overclock or whatever) the voltages that shows in bios is 1.287 - 1.384 with 38 - 41 degree temperature. and idle voltages stay around even below 1.000 (fogortten the actual values) with still 38 degrees but when at load, the voltage show to 1.387 - 1.423 in hwmonitor, cpu z and aida 64 extreme, and temperature is around 91 degree even though am using an aio water cooler 240mm. It is extremely high with a stock speed of up to 4.2 and a liquid cooler, so i tried to set the voltage manualy by setting cpu core/cache voltage to manual mode and cpu core voltage override to 1.250 but after i set it and saved and reboot, i go straight to bios again and the voltage is not showing which ever voltage i set there under manual setting. It'll still be showing 1.384 on the right side and still under load it shows up to 1.387 -1.423. I know with skylake the FIVR (voltage regulator) has been moved to the motherboard meaning MB will control voltages but dont forget the MB may communicate with the cpu to set voltages. I need help please.

My voltages are similar at stock with my 6700k on my hero, nothing to worry about there in my opinion. I would look and be sure the cooler is mounted properly, verify the pump is running, tip the chassis so the head unit is the lowest point to remove trapped air, or lastly, make sure you did not leave the plastic membrane on the cold plate.

and temperature is around 91 degree
91°C would bother me. What HW monitor is showing that for which sensor? How did you put it under load and what temps do you see during your normal heavy use?

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
I wouldnt worry about 91C in a stress test as you mentioned... the chip throttles itself at 100C, so you have headroom, especially considering games and most other activities are 10C+ lower.

That out of the way, update your bios to the latest version and see if it still does it.

XMP raises core voltage (Seen SA before)??? That's a new one I haven't seen on this platform...

Try using adaptive or offset mode to adjust the voltage.

Reading an overclocking guide might help:

Thanks buddy, the cooler is installed correctly and the plastic is removed but as to whether or not the pump is running i cant tell perhaps but i strongly believe it is running since the idle temps are around 37 - 40 for about hours. And the moment I quit the stress testing (using aida 64 extreme) the voltages drop to around 0.800 in hwmonitor and hence the temps also drops significantly to 39 degree. And dont forget i mentioned that setting manual vcore voltage doest work. ie the value i set will be there alright but the MB shows a different voltage even in bios and when i stress it, cpuz, hwmonitor and aida 64 also still shows way higher voltages (1.300 set but will be showing from 1,378 - 1.425) meaning the mobo ignores whichever voltage i set manually.

Hwmonitor is showing for cpu temp package (maximum reached) average 76, 79, 86 etc and i put it under load with Aida64 extreme system stability test under "tools"

Edit your posts to a single post bud...:)

Let us know about the BIOS update or see if disabling sync all cores does it.

Xmp is not enabled though I use corsair vengeance lpx 32gb 3000mhz (8x4) its running at 2133mhz without xmp and yea sync all cores is enabled by default
Try this:

Clear CMOS. reboot back into BIOS, check voltage listed for the vCore on the monitoring page. YOU MUST CLEAR CMOS, or you won't get the proper reading. If it reports 0.90V-1.05V, board is giving your CPU more voltage than needed most likely.

Hwmonitor is showing for cpu temp package (maximum reached) average 76, 79, 86 etc and i put it under load with Aida64 extreme system stability test under "tools"

Those temps are relatively normal for the voltage you listed. But, most CPUs should be able to do like 4.6 GHZ or so with 1.4V. Most.
