I wonder how long it will be before MS releases a Vista "lite" that is suitable for running on small, low power, low horsepower laptops. They certainly want to kill off XP asap, but clearly, they cant do that just yet. The old, "your pc/laptop is so old you need to buy a new one... to run vista" is no longer a business viable argument with the WHOLE INDUSTRY going toward ultraportables.

I'm looking forward to a Windows 2003 type kernal without the server services that can run on a low power machine. Perhaps there could be a vlite for Server 2008?

OMG, Windows on the 7" screen. Oh noes!

They should put this on the 9" with the vidcam. Surely they must have made a mistake, or are they trying to clear old stock eee's to unsuspecting buyers?

It wouldn't surprise me if it costed the same price as the Linux version because MS don't want to give the masses any reason at all to learn Linux as an alternate to their operating systems.

Probably not any more at all. It's called "dumping" on a market, and it's one of the most anti-competitive business practices there is, and Microsoft is terrible for it. It's supposed to be against the law.

Are they gonna make a 9" version with just Linux..... I hope so because thats what I wanna give to my GF.

Its fine if it comes with XP as long as it doesn't cost any extra. I hope the 9" is 500USD or less.

About $600 for the new Eee PC, according to some reports I've read online.
Ouch! At my local MicroCenter you can get a pretty good fully functional laptop for that much cash. What the heck happened to $199 laptops ASUS initially promised last year? Oh, I get it, marketing bs. The one thing ASUS is really good at.
