An article on AnandTech site shows that the final 0507 BIOS for ASUS P5B Deluxe motherboard has two new and exciting features. It provides better maximum overclocking and adds the ability to adjust the multiplier of most Conroe CPUs even if they are not Extreme Edition. The 0507 BIOS adds a new feature in the BIOS under the "Advanced", "CPU Configuration" tab, where you can now adjust the multiplier from 6x to 10x. Every time I think that Conroe's impressed me too much to be impressed any more, this CPU comes out with another surprise. If this is a feature, and not an omission on Intel's part, then the Conroes (and hopefully, Kentsfields) are going to be every overclocker's dream.

That board has two PCI Express x16 slots - being a 965 board, I'm assuming that Crossfire is completely out of the question?

Yes it does not support CrossFire, actually the black PCI-e works as a 4x or 2x slot. If you want Conroe + CrossFire you'll need the P5W DH(intel 975X).

There's a thread about this on the Asus Support forum i'm keeping my eye on. They're asking if the bios unlock is coming for the P5W DH Delux like we hope it is.

    I'll keep you posted :)

Take note it is downward unlock, just like regular Athlon non-FX series. Upward not working on anand's testing. ;)
