I am a newbie to computer builds, but I have researched and found that there are issues Asus P5Q Pro Intel P45 Chipset mobo and the
ATI Radeon HD 4870 1GB PCI-Express x16 video card regarding using more than one large video card with this mobo blocking multiple SATA ports.
However I will only use the single card setup, but I want to be able to access all 6 SATA ports or at least 5 for now. Does the large size of this video card used as a single card cause any other issues with this mobo?

I have a GTX 260, which actually obstructs more than the 4870 due to the cooler design, all it blocks on my deluxe is a few sata ports, but i fitted 90* cables before I fitted the GTX 260 so I can still use them :D

    Allen,
The layout on the P5Q Pro is excellent. As you can see in the image below, you will have zero issues using a single card. I highly recommend this mobo. Just flash to the latest bios and you will be stable as a rock. Overclocking is incredibly easy too. :toast:

Theres no interference from a single card in the top slot at all. I should know

As alex said, or you can replace the cooling on the 4870 with something like the Zalman VF900.
