There is nothing wrong with double checking stuff. I had no reason to doubt the sticker to begin with, since the information did match the device ID and the module was working as expected with the supplied Intel driver.

"though it should be reiterated that these USB4 ports are shared with the motherboards M.2 Socket_1 (top). Both cannot be used at the same time."
-- Even with the bandwidth being shared, it is still possible to use both at the same time, at least from my testing. I did not see any connection dropouts with my own USB C enclosure, just observed reduced transfer rates.

Its possible to use, but does have issues. Like instead of being nearly 3GB/s, it drops to 700 MB/s and will freeze for a few seconds in a middle of a transfer. When you copy stuff from that M.2 to the USB4 enclosure, that's when it really freaks out. I was lucky to stumble upon this problem. First time doing the bandwidth test it worked. Later on I was copying data over and kept having hanging problems. Narrowed it down until...well we know what now. I am able to replicate it, so it's not like a rare occurrence.

I don't think so anywhere. Impossible to find. Maybe it's Asia market only?
I remember SuperMicro tried getting into the "gaming" motherboard rat race a couple years ago (maybe longer) but I honestly don't think that experiment lasted for very long. I think they went back to focusing on their bread and butter?

The AMD X470 Hero was $300. While Intel Z490 was $400 in 2019/2020 Accounting for basically a 25% inflation in the Tech market that would be $375 / $500 today. Now add in new tariffs, supply and demand chains issues post covid and the new stuff included like USB4, DDR5, PCIE5 and a bunch of M.2 sockets. $600 would be more or less expected for this class of product now.
Where did you get 25% inflation number from?
I don't recall seeing usb 2 & 3 price hikes.
Pcie 5 is to early and adds no value currently, is there additional things needed for ddr5? M.2 sockets in most cases are in place of pcie I'm sure the actual cost difference is pennies.

But then again board price bloat has been thing for a while and why wouldn't it when people have been willing to pay it myself included. There is zero value to be found now, we have only ourselves to blame.

My Fractal R6 seems to be working just fine with it. Mostly my phone. My kid has used it to tether his Oculus, which has greatly reduced the fighting over play time w/ siblings. I haven't tried it yet, but I was hoping it would work well w/ my wife's laptop which has a USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 port. Can help keep the laptop charged while moving files or just having it on the desk to duel-wield PC's. :rockout:
The reason I ask is the 60 fast charge is not something I've seen on any case. I'm curious if any USB C that supports any type of fast charging would benefit from that? Do you have the pcie 6 pin cable plugged in under the motherboard to utilize that fully?
Your case reads "USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C supports fast charging and up to 10Gbps transfer speeds." so I'm wondering if future cases will have support for the absurd fast charging the mobo provides.

There's an extra 6 pin PCIe connection on the mainboard, right above the USB-C front panel connector, if that's not plugged in the manual states it'll be capped at 27w max. It might not be doing the full 60w, I don't have a good way to check that I know off right off the bat. I plugged in the laptop and via HWiNFO it shows the charge level topping out at 34w, and a Windows notification pops up on my desktop telling me a PD Fast Charge device was just plugged in. I imagine I'll need to find a newer Gen2x2 front panel port/wiring to get the full 60w and or 20GBps transfers on anything; it's probably capped at the ~30w/5Gbps because of the Fractal cable. The USB-C cable I'm using atm is rated for 100w QC4.0/PD3.0, but only USB2.0 data speeds. So maybe getting a legit TB3 or TB4 cable may change things, but I doubt it.

MSI has a bunch of cases that support it already. Hopefully Fractal isn't far behind, I've no reason to really ditch this case yet otherwise. (so I can buy a new cable for it)

What about this diagram: https://www.ixbt.com/platform/asus-rog-crosshair-x670e-hero-review.html#default-20 ? If you look at it, the USB4 controller is wired to the X670 PCIE x4 and not the CPU, so there would be no lane sharing with M2 Socket 1 at this spot. However people in ASUS forums are complaining about USB4 in general. It leads to some lags and performance issues, until you disable Power Management of the USB4 controller in Windows. It would be great if someone could verify this...

It very much shares lanes with the M.2 socket. Covered this the review. Full speed without and below USB 3.0 with. So technically it does work, but a bit shady on the spec sheet.
