The Asus laptop only has a Nvidia 950m graphics cards, the MSI has a 1050. The difference is pretty huge.
I would go with the MSI and the 1050 for gaming but it depends on the price. The 950m is last generation and the 1050 is pascal or current gen.

I think you made the better choice BUT
be prepared for throttling. Test for that - put full load on CPU and GPU and see how it cools, how it sounds, and whether this is something you can live with. Midrange GPU gaming laptops generally are on my shitlist for being crap with, so far, no exceptions found. They run hot, and live short lives, running into CPU downclock with resulting CPU performance bottleneck.

Well the MSI one has a TN panel type display while the Asus one has IPS display.
Does that really make a difference?
I dont want to regret my purchase of the MSI laptop..uhuh

It does make a difference, but there are always tradeoffs especially in this segment. I would definitely prioritize the performance over the panel in this case. I did note the MSI also comes with an IPS option at least though..
