Hi,

I would like to ask you if asus has the ability to send me original vbios file for my asus rx 470 8gb strix o8g-gaming card because im currently using vbios that came with asus flashing tool that they provided on their website. I sent them ticket do i have rights to ask for original bios ? Do they have to give me it or they can say that updated bios on their website is sufficient ?

Assuming you cannot find the BIOS file on site here (I see a few 8GB Asus version in the unverified section), I see no reason why they would not send the BIOS to you. May as well kick off another ticket or add it to your current one.

Its my second attempt for getting original vbios heres the answer i had after 3 responses back and forth with them in 2017/08/17 .

"Our central said that they dont provide older vbios because its against policy also its not possible that newer vbios performs worse than older one „If customer wants to rollback his vBIOS, there is probability that customer needs to bear the risk of damaging the card. So, we will not provide old vBIOS and also don't recommend customer do it.”

Now its 2019/12/04 second attempt maybe policy changed i hope so. Ill find out in 48 hours thats the aprox time for response.

Can i send ticket to another country support because polish one seems like a problem to me ?

I doubt policies like that particular one will ever change. Its to safeguard themselves and their customers from having to deal with cards that never needed to be dealt with until the the owner flashed it with the wrong bios or the bios flash went wrong etc etc etc.

@eidairaman1 well help you here. He knows his shit.

I mean why do they even provide bios flash tool if its so dangerous . Its not against their policy to provide tool with wrose performing bios on website without actually providing original one when some1 asks and im 100% sure its so rare that some1 asks for vbios ... Its just they treat people like kids i bought their product its mine now so why they want decide for me if i see my card performs worse with newer bios i want to go back to older one and it should not be a problem to give me file and lock my gpu id for future rma and stuff caused by this its not like u can write to asus support without providing actual id of your gpu.

At least they provided a proper file and tool to flash, most come here complaining they bricked their card

I will help you but I need your cooperation with no questions asked.

I need you to download gpu-z, open it, take a screenshot of the first tab, post here, post pic of white sticker label located on card back here too please.

Once you have done that open gpu-z again and then click the arrow next to the uefi check box and attempt to upload your bios to the VGA Bios collection-most cases you will receive a prompt that the file is already in the database with a link to it, provide that link here please.

If you dont receive a prompt you will see the file uploaded with a link to it, copy and paste that link here

Ask Asus if you are mighty enough for original vbios for my card and i wont have more questions.

I can find you several by build date.

Do you want the help or not?

As far as I know Sapphire is the only 1 that really helps users directly.

There is certain info gpu-z has and also your white sticker has that helps me to track down a proper set of files for you.

So you know I've helped users make RX 5700s into XTs or a RX 580 into a RX 570, or a RX 560D into RX 560. Ive also helped others with 1080tis to get higher power limits.

On msi forum for example users provide vbios on forum without single question idk why asus is so childish.

Because newer typically fix problems, they are revised as well.

You can tell its modded by last 3 timings "1750 MHz: 21-21-26-26-70-23-192 1875 MHz: 21-21-26-26-70-23-192 2000 MHz: 21-21-26-26-70-23-192 ".

If you could ask asus usa for original vbios it would be great. Thanks for interest.

#edit also i dont want to use the "verified" one because gpu-z always changes sha-1 when uploading vbios and its not an actual file i would get from asus . The best example is the vbios they provided in their tool on website , file is different from the one i uploaded using gpu-z and the one we can find on techpowerup.

Use the top 1 i just provided, it has been verified by tpu so it is an official bios, you will need to ask asus yourself since i do not own your card,

Here is a verified bios

There are only 3 files here that match your specific card.

Good Luck.

I mean i stated from start that i want it verified by asus because the ones here does not suit me . The only help i can imagine getting here is some1 contacting asus usa because im sure they are more open minded than polish asus .

For example vbios on website shows its already added 193755.rom / 41655e064bea7a9d87464c1484984d565ae1a253 and the "same" file i found on asus website 67DFHB.15.50.0.0.AS31.rom / DC55D36304870DEE087DD8B4E11AD431C7405EAB .

Techpowerup says those 2 files are the same sha-1 is different so?

Well go to www.asus.com and inquire there, there are 3 files and the 1 i just provided is verified just like the one you have on your card already is verified by asus.

I just did my part, you need to do yours.

Good luck.

I don’t understand why you aren’t using the updated BIOS they offered you .Its rare for a manufacturer to offer GPU BIOS updates to begin with and they are absolutely right in not offering you The previous one. They gave you and updated one for good reason and it’s the one you should use on your card.

I can tell my card perform worse by using it theres no better test than that and as far as i can tell many many people complain about asus updates destroy cards stability and performance just read on reddit its a shame they dont follow the path of msi/sapphire and others who dont make problems of providing previous bios to choose if the newer one is failing same with router updates they dont remove older firmwares once they release update why here is different?

Asus usa/canada said that i should ask amd for original vbios and amd said i should ask asus . Asus poland sent me the "updated vbios" alone which i can find in package on website anyways . All i can tell to close this topic is that i tested all vbios for my card and verified from techpowerup is only 1 and it performs so much better than any other.

If you ever doubt what vbios works best for your card ( strix-470-O8G-gaming) i leave it here.

Asus destroyed this card with their "updated vbios" either never change ur card vbios or use the "verified" one i linked as its the only one tested by that performs head and shoulders above the rest. End of topic.
