German overclocker Der8auer has posted a video about the Asus GeForce RTX 3080 TUF Gaming, which contains a teardown, review of the design and mod with results.
After the mod, this particular card managed to reach 1995 MHz most of the time, while the card used to run around 1950 MHz.

I wonder if you get the same result with dropping vGPU to 0,9V and/or OC'ing 0,9V voltage point to 2GHz.

How-to shunt mod. The takeaway is not how impressive the clock is or is it any better than others, because we know overclock is now dead and it's all a lottery, some Asus may do better than MSI or vice versa. the video really has to do with people playing with soldering iron and skills caught up in their addictions. Desperatly making content for views and validation.

The ASUS TUF Gaming RTX 4080 OC , this will have more rops and it will deliver ASUS TUF Gaming RTX 3080 OC performance at 30% lower frequency and at 30% lower power requirements.
There is all ready lots of buzz that NVIDIA is going to use five micron lithography at 2021.

5080 OC will be even faster, I'll wait until 2023.

It will still require someone to try to shunt mod to test if there are indeed any overclocking headroom or not. While they are at it, might as well make some videos.

Power = V^2 / R, with V being around 1V mark since Fermi (default, not OC), and R getting ever lower since higher transistor counts and smaller nodes - you get to the point of Physics of materials being limiting factor (manufacturing gains can't keep up with incresing leakage/transistor numbers at the same voltage), and It will only get worse as we go down on nm scale (dropping default voltage to max. 0,9V or 0,8V is only a matter of time).

The only way to know, for sure, how "trash" Samsung process is - is to wait for voltage and power numbers from RX 6000 series, and compare that to similary die sized Amepere SKU.

This stands for NVIDIA which so far it is continue to deliver hotter pans at its new release.
water is wet = another New hot pan with a better handle.

The cure:
a) NVIDIA it should stop brainwashing the gamers that they need 150 FPS all times so to get better scores in games.
b) NVIDIA it should set a new goal that no one of their upcoming GPU's will require more than 200W of power.
c) NVIDIA has no choice than stepping down to smaller lithography.
I hope NVIDIA to succed in all three because otherwise, we that thinking the VGA as long-term investment we will not use our wallets any time soon.

If I told you people still shunt mod Pascal cards, would that be ok with you too? Because they do.

It's not always about the warranty, nor the cost to benefit ratio. It certainly isn't here.

I own a 2080 Super and have no plan to ever use the warranty, so to answer your question: Yes, this interests me and if I had the skills, I'd do it.

It's not really about performance in games though, or practicality. Essentially it's about doing what you think if fun. Pushing things as well, but you only do that if you think it's fun.

The specific product reviewer he does have understanding of electronic circuits, all he wanted to do was to cheat at the circuitry of the power limiter, so the card to think that there is a bit of headroom.
The experiment were successful, the gain this is not worthy to talk about.
Simple as that.

I'm more curious what the undervolting results would be with these... 375W + 1950mhz @ 900mv or 925mv max would be the dream... quieter, less power ceiling bouncing and no difference in performance vs the stock configuration.
