Hey guys, my first post here.
Long story making short I was googling how to edit bios in graphic cards and I stumbled on RBE forums, I followed the tutorial how to aquire my graphic card bios. The whole idea behind this was to increase voltage so I could stable 700core....Now here is there the fun begiiinss.

So I flashed my card, overclocked it....had some strange system slowdowns, I overclocked it and games were running great, after 5minutes or so the game hang up and I got gray screen, I reebooted and I got no signal. Changing monitor cable from one dvo port to another I could not get signal to show up, I had to call my friend to come with his old x1550 pci edition so I could use my pc....Later on we went to his house thinking maybe its my pc, card fan was spinning no sounds or stuff showing up. We took out his 4870x2, put my lil 4850 and still no signal. So we are thinking the bios went wrong or the card physically broke. I doubt that, I have Sapphire 4850 dual eidtion with big heatink on that card so temps were not the problem.

So I have question for you guys it there any way to get the old bios on to the card? I get no signal from it so I can't see what's happening. I saved my original bios, I'm thinking its the bios....hopefully I didn't fry the card lol!

My system specs are as follows:

*G.Skill 4gb ddr2 800 @954mhz
*Vista 64bit
*Intel Core2Quad q6600 @ 3.4ghz
*Antec TwelveHundred full tower case
*Silverstone 700w modular striker series
*ZEROtherm Nirvana cpu cooler
*Sapphire 4850 (not working)
*ASUS 20X DVD±R DVD Burner
*Seagate Barracuda 500gb HD (2x)
*P45 ASUS P5Q SE
*Acer 22"

I also made video of the card on youtube, you can take look the heatsink is big so I doubt the temps were the problem haha
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83jfxIpD6oo&fmt=22

Please help I have $200 card not working :banghead:

Here is a nice guide on flashing BIOS' on video cards, also explains how to fix it if a card goes bad from a flash. I would think that maybe something went wrong with the flash, and putting the original BIOS back on should fix it.

You can put your 4850 into your buddy's rig and run ATIWinflash. That should get the job done, just make sure you select the 4850 not the 4870 X2, that might get him a little mad at you:p

1. Remove the 4850 from the system. Run the PCI card only.
2. Enter CMOS setup.
3. Look for a setting "first display device" or something. Switch this from PCIe to PCI.
4. Put the 4850 back in.
5. Reflash the original BIOS.

if you would read what i stated before i changed bios setting to boot with both cards using my pci card as my primary, i got bios on the usb flash drive and booted on it and i typed atiflash -p 0 original.bin and i think i screwed it up because now both cards are not working, my guess is the number 0 was the primary meaning my old pci card so i addidently flashed that instead my 4850 :slap: so now i dont have pci card working to flash the bios

Why oh why....
Please tell me it wasn't the blue PCB HD4850 with the weird looking cooler....
If so, it uses some rather weird VRMs... You might of overloaded the VRMs.. ;-\

So the answer is quite obvious, right? Get another PCI card (a non-ATI-card at best) and reflash both cards. It's not that hard. :)

Man, don't be a douche. Just get a PCI card from eBay for a dollar and reflash your cards. No one likes a chiefly.

No they wont replace it, a bad flash should be fairly obvious to their techs, it will just cost you the price of shipping 2 ways.

i thought ill go to bestbuy, get pci card and return it when im done flashing :D

question is what to type exactly in bios

i apparently flashed my back up card by doing atiflash -p 0 original.bin

so im guessing the 0 stands for the card....so i guess if i would do atiflash -p 1 original.bin that would flash my second card meaning 4850 since i set primary vga in pci

is that right?

im gonna call up my boy and we r going to best buy to ask what is return policy, he got dvd drive and they gave him 7 days to get refund in case it doesn't work so maybe the same implies to gpus

Use Winflash, no need to worry about commands then, some people dont like it, I have flashed these damn Bioses 11 times in the last week using winflash without a hitch!

1. load up winflash

2. Click load image, browse to your bios file and load it into winflash

3. click program

Make sure your pc does not power off while it flashes. It may look like the program is doing nothing, but just wait, and it will pop up a box saying flash succesful. Then it will ask you to reboot.

Done

I think if you put the knackered one in the primary slot and the good one in the 2nd, it should boot to the 2nd when the primary fails but if my memory serves me right, you can only flash to the primary card/slot so that should be fine.

Looks like progress is being made!! ;-) I still need to re-flash my X1650XT.... but WinFlash refuses to start up with it in the secondary PCIe slot. ... :wtf:
