ATI 5870 and 3D gaming

Hello. I was just wondering about ati's solution for 3D gaming. Because im looking for a 3D monitor and i was wondering about which one I want. I know about the IZ3D. But I guess that other 3D monitor from different vendors will work just fine? or does it have to be the IZ3D?

I'm sure they have a trick up their sleeves to answer the call of 3D gaming, maybe in the 6000 series, but we won't know for sure since it's all tight lipped. As of now, there are no 3D gaming for ATI, that would be in nVidia's department

Hmn, alright. Tho im pretty sure that the IZ3D monitor should work with ATI. I just don't like the monitor. Anyways. Thanks.

Compatible Graphics Cards for 3D

Most any graphic card with 2 outputs (2 DVI or 1 DVI/1 VGA) will drive an iZ3D monitor.

Why 2 outputs? It's all about resolution! The iZ3D monitor delivers real Passive Stereoscopic 3D without halving resolution to switch, shutter, or interlace left- and right-eye images. Each eye sees all of the images all of the time.

If your graphics card can deliver in 2D, it can probably deliver in 3D.

Supported Graphics cards must have Two outputs that can be driven at the same time. As far as performance goes, an easy way to test the performance loss is to install the iZ3D Driver, and play in Anaglyph mode. The loss should be similar to the loss with our monitor.

Please note, that while CrossfireX and SLI may output two streams, in most cases the game will only make use of One core in 3D mode.

For ATI Graphics Cards, we recommend a minimum of an ATI Radeon 4870.

For nVidia Graphics Cards, we recommend a minimum of an nVidia Geforce 8800.

Looks like you might be stuck with the monitor but it is still nice that their is an option for 3D

So it will be 3D and all that. But I have to use that monitor? I just think it all looks alot similar to the way nvidia 3d is set up.

Well I just though it would be cool. Nothing more. Then I could aswell watch movies in 3D at my home on my computer.

it can be done with any 3d monitor it looks like as long as the iZ3D driver hooks are in place

I don't think it will work with Nvidia 3D monitor. Which most monitors for gaming are right now?
