It's nice to see some improvement once again on the x1000 series again.
The last several drivers were nothing but 2000 series (not that I blame them).

wow... seriously.. if we really add up all the improvements on games since the RTM drivers for the 2900 etc.. just look at the improvement! this is fantastic!

"Call of Juarez DirectX 10 Crossfire performance improves up to 42% and single card performance improves up to 34% on all ATI Radeon HD 2000 series products"

how the hell they do that???

34% improvement is huge, the call of juarez benchmark will surely run far better

yeah... but after several catalyst versions and already large performance increases its surprising to see they can still churn out more performance

We should add up every % from the day of the release of the HD.

I wish they fixed Crysis Crossfire, but the driver might(Just might not be in the note)

I am already seeing performance boost in World in Conflict with their 001 update. The game is much more smoother then before. Benchmarks at 1680x1050 are 30 FPS vs 27 FPS prior to the update. With 7.10 I like to see what I will get!

it does make me wonder, though - if they can keep jacking and optimizing the performance for newer titles, does that mean that we're losing some performance for older ones?

I mean, I understand they want to keep up with the latest fad game, and are still in high competition with nVidia, but what about those of us still diggin the older games that haven't gone legacy yet . . . like Thief: Deadly Shadows or Doom3?

you bring up a good point as the hd2000 series is supposed to be 80% drivers or something like that, we could be gaining in some areas only to lose in others.

Have we honestly seen problems from games that they haven't addressed?
Have we forgotten the CS:S, HL2 fog issue that was fixed?

that's what I was wondering . . . I mean, I understand that performance will plateau sooner or later, and then it would only start to revert on itself or not show any gains at all. Also considering that the newer driver releases have focused more on the 2ks over the 1ks, and the 1ks and AGPs seem to be more touchy with driver optimizations. We've even seen significant performance hits, 7.7 was the worst across the board, and various other issues ranging from the AGPs not functioning properly to poor framerates and displays.

Unless, ATI has something up their sleeve between the two breeds, maybe like giving the 2ks their own line of driver releases at some point - but, I really don't see ATi doing that.

I am talking about actual problems not performance concerns. IE "I would like this game to run faster"...
Also, have you actually submitted a ticket?

The AA fog issue is not a ATI only issue. Neither is the texture problems with IL2

This is great news, hope they continue to push for major performance in other DX10 titles like they have with COJ.:toast:
