What if I wanted to run a nice ATi card like a 4870 and I wanted to use a generic nvidia card like an 8400gs for physx? Would I have to install nvidia video drivers as well as thier physx drivers? Or could I just use the ATi card for video and install only phsyx drivers for the 8400gs? Or would I have to install video drivers for the 8400 too?

doesn't work i tried it. The geforce card would have to be main video card for the physx to be enabled on it.

lol, nice idea but what would you call it? CLi? :))
anyway, you might want to get regular physX card instead, but i don't think it worth the money, at least not right now

by the way, wait a little, may be there will be drivers with cuda support for ATi as well (remember, there was already backwards engineered that worked on ati cards and both NV and AMD were alright with it. in fact, nv got excited since that makes CUDA the most popular right away)

Well considering that physics accelerated games are virtually non-existent it wouldn't be worth the hassle....however it may benefit you if you have a weak CPU.

might work for the 3650 and 4850 if you rewrote the BIOS ID string to make it identify as a 3650

I can see reflashing a 2600 Pro/xt (RV630) to an HD3650 (RV635) for crossfire support, but not an HD4850 (RV730).
