Technically, its wide-tent filter is exceptional among radeons making it rather unique; however its mipmap biases were inferior to 6800's which themselves are inferior to 6900 and up. Since both the wide-tent setup and mipmap biases can affect filtering quality that D3D AF-Tester can pick up on, it would be a good testing medium for AMD's anisotropic filtering evolution.

Productivity. If I could I would have 2-3 monitors on all my rigs even if I'm running off integrated just so I can see and do more. Might be the same for OP

Because I can always upgrade later down the line vs the monitors which are long term buys. Monitors last a life time, GPUs don’t.

I don’t plan to keep my current rig at all as it’s only a Athlon X4 760K and now a GTX 960

Once Ryzen 2 drops I’m going to upgrade

1GB VRAM isn't just enough anymore. I had problems with HD 5870 Crossfire 4 years ago already because of that.

Rubbish. The 7970 is still a decent GPU if you turn off AA and keep AF limited to 4x.

Yep considering a 280/X is of the same cloth as a 7950 and 7970, early cards were rebadges.

Exactly

And looking at the TPU relative performance charts the R9 280X is about 24% behind the RX 470

Just look at the BF4 performance (Turn down AA and you can easily break 60 FPS)

I guess, tho I remember when I had GTX 680 3½yrs ago and at least in Far Cry 4 2GB wasn't enough. FPS was stable 60, but there was still some stuttering, and I doubt that the rest of my rig back then (i7-920 @ 4.3GHz, 24GB DDR3-1600) was bottlenecking. IIRC I played with high settings at 1920x1080.
