At what resolution man? I mean look at my specs. I get well over 100 fps in CoD:WaW with the in game AA. Why would you force AA in a game that renders it natively? Forcing AA is a waste of time and resources if its native to the game.

I can see a difference between 4xAA and 8xAA in that game. Also, the CCC forced 4xAA looks worse than using the in game option.

The comment on fps was at 1920x1200 with everything turned up and only playing on the map Knee Deep. When I get into the thick vegetation areas it really drags down the frame rate. Otherwise, yes I rip 100+ fps easy using in game AA with everything turned up at 1920x1200 no problem. I leave the in game limit at ~90 because the tearing just drives me mad.

Meanwhile, a week later, still no 5850's available... I want one! Let me spend my money! Aaaargh! :D

They were up on Newegg for a few hours last night, I haven't checked back today, but your not in the US, not sure what etailers you guys use over there.

The guys @Guru 3D omly managed to get to 820Mhz core, which seems to confirm that the 5850s are lower binned chips.
They are cut down the due to the inability to reach 5870 clocks at standard voltage/temp.

The guys @hothardware have the most pathetic OC so far..... @765/1150:respect:
http://hothardware.com/Articles/AMD-ATI-Radeon-HD-5850-Performance-Review/?page=9

Ouch hothardware got a bad chip, either way this all makes sense. Everyone was expecting this card to release at $299, then it came out at $259, thats an unreal deal, and the price gap between the 2 is massive.

Most Dutch (r)etailers are listed in the Pricewatch at Tweakers.net, which I check multiple times a day :D

840 core max on my card without any fan or voltage changes, which seems to explain why it became a 5850

hiya wizz, you'd know better than anybody but i thought the 5850s ran at a slightly lower default stock voltage than the 5870's hence why they seem to top out at 800ish

Some chips just overheats at 5870 voltage you know, so lowering the voltage and cutting the core really helps.
For a chip to be binned as qualified, it have to be able to clock @5870 voltage, clock, and temps.

The first batch of cards are all reference if not all BBA.
So if the Asus can do it every other card can.

That's not a hard launch imho. Hard launching imho means every single shop that wants to sell these things has them available at the moment of launch.

What you describe is more like a semi-hard launch :D

but i can find HD 5870 in indonesia store (although it runs out really quickly ) so it's really hard launch

Why would Newegg update the specs on a deactivated item? What card it is, what brand, model designation, etc. doesn't matter. As long as it uses standard pci-e power connections and doesn't suck more power than the PSU offers it will obviously work.

:rockout:Good catch, mine is Ver 2.01, "20+4 pin".http://www.fspgroupusa.com/EPSILON.asp

Thanks for the needed info, I feel relieved I dont need another PSU[yet]
Looks like I can pass over a 4k-x2 model now! 5k is sweet!!, now i just need to get back on a quad core system

EDIT, is it possible that it really is [as per FPS website] ATX Ver 2.2, with the 20+4 pin main?

from FSP Fourm:

Hi, basil 555

FSP Epsilon 700 is ATX version2.2

Going back to my situation, 5870 worth it over a 5850? I may also be "upgrading" from my q9550 to an i7 860 system as well.

Thanks again!

Thanks again!

5850 seems like a much better deal at current pricing. Seems plenty powerful enough to play any game as well or perform some great benchmarks.

New Ati cards are easly beaten by GF295,and just to buy it for DX11 its not worth the money. At least for me,I will wait for 5890 or 5870X2 if there will be one.

crossfire them badboys and have 2gpu and see who gets smacked around, And WHEN! the 5870x2 come out im buying 2 of them badboys...oh yes..*droolz most profusly*
The first Hamlock is very likely to be an 5850X2, the 5870X2 will most likely cost an arm and a leg @$600. :ohwell:
The current CPUs have a hard time keeping up with 5870CF, quad-fire is overkill most likely.

@shevanel
Don't :rockout: yet, those card will make your room feel like a furnace
