ASUS' Voltage Tweak 5870 review 'ere.

Would have thought a 2GB 5870 would have shown up by now.

From what I took away from the whole 5870 launch was that the 2gb cards were going to be the Eyefinity version only with the 6x displayport outs.

I'm still waiting for some DX11-based games to come out before considering a new video card. Might arrive by Christmas you never know. I am impressed with performance but even if the DX11 games come out thats where we will know if it's a good idea to make the switch. After all, ATI fans were quite fooled when the HD 2000 series came out with terrible results.

There's no way the 5xxx series is like the 2xxx series.

Not really because it's gonna cost 200.00 or so. The 5770 was meant to be equal to a 4870 but dx11 and cheaper to make and it does exactly that. It is a very good card. When oced it matches your 3870x2 no problem.

I think that's all some people want. A DX11 card inbetween the 4870ish level of the 5770 and the GTX285ish performance of the 5850 at about $200-220, the price point is nearly exactly between the two cards which are seperated by about $100. Effectivelly a 4890 replacement as R700 series GPUs reach EOL. From the reviews we've all seen now, its obvious, as fantastic as high performance GDDR5 is, the 128-bit bus is something currently too insurmountable to deal with. I can easily see slightly defective Cypress cores slightly fixed up and sold at a lower price point or simply, a more severly cutdown Cypress as a '5830'. Afterall it took ATI about four months to make the 'surprise' launch of the 4830 and as we've all seen, ATI HATES having price/performance gaps in their lineup as can be seen in their R700 4830, 4770, 4730, 4750 and 4860 launches (the later two being in China only).

China only?? China only?? Wow, China must be a bigger market than the US/Canada market for ATI to do that for China! I do not know!

Well something I noticed with my 5770 even at default clocks using occt over whelms the stock cooler. It is small and cheap but doesn't do a super job of cooling. Don't get me wrong it's adequate but not near as good as it should be. However, it will handle furmarks at 1000/5780 1.262v

what temps are you getting ? , max temps i get when benchmarking is 70c . while gaming it's around 63-64 c

I find it odd that the 5700 series wasn't listed in 9.10. I guess we have to wait next month?

Tomorrow I'll replace the TIM on my 5870 and share results, it will be AS5.

About the same as you it only gets really hot using occt, furmark hits 70cish. Thats over clocked 1000/5780 1.262v. This card is really small and the cooler is just basic. I'm able to game at or near max setting on this card no problem. It reminds me of the 4850/4870 etc..., however it's smaller.

Full sweep done with Driver Cleaner.NET, did alot of GRID, no BSOD's anymore
Now all I gotta test is CoD4, but that can wait until tomorrow or something.

Preliminary conclusion: Clean install of 9.10 package seems to work fine with Windows 7 x64 RC and my 5850.
