Time to reinstall Windows, or return the card.

I'm out of any other ideas.

hey Armageddon you have me worried that I might have troubles with my 5870 whe it gets here, its a sapphire as well,my 5850 runs dirt2 perfect, Guess we will see soon enough Dragon

I'm not returning this thing. Crysis, GTA IV, every runs smooth and its running perfect.

Not Re-installing windows, no way. I'm installing the heaven demo to see if DX11 is the problem or what not.

DTV Dragon, i dunno man. My 295 ran the game just fine. I upgraded from Win Vista Ultimate to Win7 Ultimate, so you might have no problem.

We'll see I guess, best of luck Dragon.

Why not reinstall Windows? I do it at least twice a year.

ONLY twice a year? Sometimes I reinstall twice a month on my benching rigs. :laugh:

Seriously though, with Win 7 then using something like ninite.com, the whole process of reinstalling is fast and easy.

I have x86 and x64 ready on a USB stick. As far as setting up/tweaking Windows I have it all memorized, but I use Black Viper's guide as a well... guide. :laugh:

I'm just refering to my main rig. Everything else are my wicked stepchildren and I don't pay attention what I do to those.

I just re-installed yesterday, and using the same key on two PCs right now, meaning I have to call MS to get it activated again.

Well crap! Everything I know seems to be getting thrown out the window. Perhaps if I give you my Dirt2 config file/hardware settings, maybe that'll work? Let me know, I'm heading home pretty soon, I can send them to you somehow. :toast:

I dunno what was wrong but it started, just did a few races and was reminded of how much I hate that game, but it does look beautiful in DX11.

Sapphire Toxic 5850 is now ordered and awaiting Newegg shipping and packing

Should be here by Tuesday, if only UPS ran on Saturdays, I'd have my vid card Monday...Ah well, 2 days from order to doorstep work for me.

So using Unigine and Afterburner with voltage tweaking enabled I can hit 1003Mhz on the core at 1.2 volts and 1380 on the memory stock. What is the max safe voltage on this core? I ran it up to 1.265 and ran the core at 1100ish but it gave the demo occasional stutters. At 1.265 volts and 1100Mhz on the core it was still running 61C with the fan on 100%, I know my water cooling will run it around 36C at full load.

FWIW, I saw over on the B3D forum that alluded to the fact that the 5870 Vapor-X ver 2 and 5850 Vapor-X and Toxic use the same pcb. Also, from looking at backside pics of the on Newegg this XFX 5870 and this Powercolor 5870 appear to use the same pcb of the Sapphires too.

only problem i have is mkv's and such in WMC... I had it all setup and running flawlessly then once I went to 10.2 I started having choppppppy playback and distorted videos

I had them with 10.1 until I switched my memory to run in ganged mode in BIOS. The crashing and big cursor went away after that.
