Hi I have old notebook - NTT Corrino 969 W (something like Compal FL90) and I want to replace broken graphic card with ATI mobility HD4650 1GB DDR3.

If I understand correctly my old card do not have bios on it, main BIOS (on mainboard) have it within it. So is there any way I can modify main bios and add ATI HD4650 mobility 1GB DDR3 support to it? Is this doable with a new card inside, so I can put it in and it will display 'basic' graphic so I can update the BIOS?

If no, I guess I need to solder a bios chip (8 pin SPI) to the graphic card. Where can I download original (a ATI mobility HD4650 1GB DDR3) to program the chip?

Thanks. I don't know if I can mod it with http://www.hardwareheaven.com/downloads/tools/MMDotNETSetup1210.zip cause my old card is not working and I did not buy new one yet, cause I would like to know if it will work or at last get some answers first (my card was 512MB btw).

From the the great link you paste here it seems that I need just to insert card inside and after some settings set and modding I'm ready to go. How ever I don't know if the card used by Kris Verbeeck had BIOS on it or not... The card I want to buy does not have BIOS chip on it, I would like to have BIOS I can use so I can solder a chip and program it with it, and atm I can't find any...

There is other way then solder a bios chip to the card - you can modiffy you origin mainboard bios to support some cards and I think I will go this way. Thanks.
