Hi,

I recently bought a HD 5570 1GB from PowerColor in order to put it in my new media center.
I formatted my computer and put Windows 7 x64 on it.

After installing the catalyst drivers, i ran into random crashes that occured while watching movies, surfing on internet or just having some random program running that doesnt use the GPU.

When i tried to watch some movies some player using my GPU, no problem at all during the whole movie.

Ive seen many threads relating voltage problem in 2D mode. Could it be the same ?

I don't think its the same. Try using the older drivers? Delete the old drivers first.

update your motherboard drivers and direct X first, to delete previous drivers use driver sweeper, or driver cleaner.net

It's doubtful then that the Video card is the problem these types of crashes have been known to be caused by an update from MS more specifically to an file included in the up date dxgmm1.sys and come with this update ::

Concerning drivers, i have no problem with them since i formatted my computer after having that card installed.
I will try to uninstall the Windows Update to see what it does.

Removing the update didnt solve anything.

I have done some testing: the more stressed my GPU is, the more stable it becomes.
Meanwhile, I have contacted the PowerColor support, it seems that they will send me a test bios as soon as i give them some information about my HD5570.

The modified BIOS i received solved my problems.
It has higher frequencies in some modes, voltages stay untouched.
