Hi

Recently a friend of mine gave me a Nvidia 8600GTS/256mb DDR3

Is worth to put the 8600Gts as a dedicated Phyx card?

I have a Thermaltake TR2 RX-500PP PSU, Will my PSU handle the load???

my PC configuration is the following:

PSU : Thermaltake TR2 RX-500PP (500watt)
CPU : Intel Core i5 750
M/B : Gigabyte P55-UD3R
RAM : 2x2GB DDR3 Corsair 1333Mhz
GFX : Ati 5770 vapor-X
HDD: Seagate 500GB 7200Rpm 32Mb cache
+3 120mm system fans
Thank you.

Since i can't find any place where they say the combined 12v amps, i'm going to say maybe not.

You know that you can't enable PhysX if an ATI card is used with a Nvidia for PhysX with the stock Nvidia driver, you need modded ones like the one i'm using from here:

The real question: Is it worth risking your PC just for some fancy effects in a few games?

Same opinion here
Well, i don't think you should try it... a lot of work just for some fancy effects as KingPing said... but the 8600GTS is pretty light on power consumption if you wanna know

I think it'll perform poorly on PhysX games too, since it's a mid-end card from 2007

Hi, again.

I took the risk and tried the above configuration.
The Psu seems able to handle the extra load of 8600GTS
I installed the Gel's mod 1.03 with 196.34 drivers and the latest physX , newer drivers didnt work for me.
I tested with metro 2033.

The only problem is that 5770 dont have space to breathe air and the temps with 100% load from 60-65 now gets to 76-80, and i already have an aftermarket cooling system.
