Does anyone know if the new R600 GPU is designed to operate Crossfire W/out the dongle cable (ie communicate via the PCI-E bus), and if so, does this require a new motherboard design other than the ATI 3200 series mobo chipset?:wtf: Basically a system rebuild, instead of a Video card upgrade.:twitch:

Yes, it should enable crossfire without a master card (2 normal r600 cards), and without a dongle. It should work with ATI 3200 series mobos. This is all rumors, so dont take my word for it.

Thanks Poge,

So you can build a system now with an ATI 3200 mobo and any PCI-E GPU, and simply upgrade to the two R600's later ???? Does the R600 work w/ R580 or R580+, or will it stay exclusive to its own GPU chipset (crossfire R580/R600 or only crossfire R600/R600)?

I want to see the RV570's, since they have CrossFire with 2 SLI-like bridges connected to each other.

perosnaly i think ati needs a design change, latley nividia has been producing gpus with less power consumption and less heat released
