Hi. I've got a new mobo, so obviously I have onboard 'sound' and uh...I've noticed an issue with my speakers the last few years. Before, it was still somewhat possible to listen to what it played, but now...Even at max volume...my speakers have to be on my ears to hear....
Anyone have an idea why? I know my speakers are old, and recently I've been thinkin maybe that's why but...I've not used them much in a year or 2, so I don't think that'd cause it....It seems every time I get new hardware or a reformat, it doesn't work QUITE as well...Any ideas as to what I could check or change? (Also, I hope this is the right section ^^;)
EDIT: Also, I've noticed at max volume with pc and 'max' on the headset, some songs on my PC aren't quite as loud as my mother's laptop audio.... :/

This section is fine.

Have you tried another set of speakers on your rig?

check volume control options, something might be reducing the volume on your main speaker control.
Speaker icon, bottom right of the pc on the desktop, audio properties options.

I have a headset that does that to me occasionally because it has a freaking button on it that drives me crazy and turns my main sound control down. Only way to turn it back up is in main control. I ended up melting it out of my headset lol..

No I have not. I've noticed actually that this isn't the AC'97, but High Definition Codecs so....I thought I had AC'97 and thus had the latest...but high definition still gets driver so...I'm gonna try updating those first ^^;. If that doesn't work, I'll try my brothers...but his speakers can actually adjust their own volume so...plus he uses them so....Gimme a few to try some things out. And both Wave and Main Volume are at max. It's actually quieter with wave at 50%....So...(Although I guess that's rather obvious)

are your speakers powered? if they're old, passive style ones, you may be noticing how speakers these days dont include built in amplifiers (only headphone amplifiers) whereas many many years ago sound cards had more power to them.

No they're not. I guess they're 'passive'; plug into audio slot n go. I was wondering why they got quieter as the years went by :/ lol...So basically I'll just have to buy new ones?
EDIT: Cause the audio drivers update definitely helped headset, but barely any improvement, if any at all, for headset...
