The current rumors pointed out that Fury X will be hitting the shelves June 24th. However I am worried about the availability. Do you guys think it will be in extreme limited stock? I am definitely set on getting the Fury X now.

Will the Fury X be a Paper-Launch? It mostly will since this is what they did in the past.

What was yesterday if not the "paper launch"?
"A paper launch is the situation in which a product is compared or tested against other products of the same kind, despite the fact that it is not available to the public at the time. Generally the term is applied to the computer and gaming industry, although it is not limited to that"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paper_launch

There are no official reviews yet, so it wasn't a Paper-Launch.

Yesterday was just the announcements.

Well based on what I have been hearing it should be obtainable within the first few days. It really depends how much of the hbm memory they obtained since that seems to be the most likely thing holding it back.

You can probably get one easily if you order on launch day. But I expect supply will dwindle for the first 2 weeks then become more available again.

Well I cant see from where are you from, but if you really want one you can call your local shops and ask around when are they expected to get one. And if you really really want one you can reserve one from the shops so you get one from the first batch they get.

I am from a tiny college town and pretty much no local shop would carry any high end graphic card. Everything here is done though newegg, or amazon.

The 3 problems I see with this card are 4gb of vram, dx 12.1 features are not confirmed and no hdmi 2.0. Bonus number 4 is how well will amd support this card with drivers.

http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/amd-radeon-fury-x-doesnt-have-hdmi-2-support.html

Choke on a cock?

In other news, Nvidia trolls are out in force trying to discredit anything that may represent a threat to their glorious leader, including forgetting that Nvidia released a driver that killed cards, vendors being shipped stickers to rebrand Nvidia cards, 3.5Gb of available RAM on 970 cards with only a passing "fuck you" from Nvidia, low power issues on new cards, attempts to sabotage performance of their own older generation cards and competition, and general asshattery.

HDMI 2 is and has been dealt with in another thread.

I bet my CCC launches as fast as your Nvidia Control Panel.

Nvidia failed on meeting DX standards for years and now, the first time they actually meet the next standard this is all you can harp on?

Everyone seem to forget that 4GB on Fury are HBM, which behave differently from GDDR5. Don't compare 4GB of HBM with 4GB of GDDR5, they are not the same. For HDMI 2.0, I doubt that any card claiming to have full support has 4:4:4@60Hz at 4K. DP is the future of 4K imho.

If you fill those 4 GB it will behave like every other card.

Bullshit. If you have 4GB of geometry and textures, then you fill 4GB. HBM doesn't change how much needs to get rendered, it just changes how it's delivered, not what is delivered.
The points I made are facts and being a 4k gamer I know these 3 points are very important.
Actually, VRAM usage doesn't increase by a whole lot just from jumping up to a higher resolution. It does increase but that alone isn't a huge reason to jump ship. The HDMI 2.0 is if you plan on play on a TV. Any half sensible person going 4k as a computer monitor would get it with DisplayPort, to do otherwise is simply dumb. As for as the DX12.1 features, aren't most of those eye candy related and won't impact running a DX12 game?

If you can afford 4k now, you probably can afford a new GPU when 4GB isn't enough, so I find the things "important to you" to be laughable at best. At least AMD gives you 4GB that's uniform and doesn't behave differently once you've used a certain amount. As for drivers, I don't recall AMD frying any GPUs with a driver update which is a plus in my book. CFX aside, I've had very few issues with CCC. So lets leave the general asshattery at home as it's not going to help the thread and it only serves to polarize the thread.

Simple fact of the matter is that Fury X still isn't out yet and we still don't have reliable data to base any assumptions whatsoever on. However, my concern is that power consumption is still going to be a weak point.

Lastly: Considering 4k is still an immature technology, I wouldn't even bother investing into it until it has more time to mature for these very reasons because when push comes to shove, most hardware can't handle it and you're paying through the nose to get it.

:wtf: Why would anyone decide on buying a GPU before even knowing how it performs?!?

Because my wife said if I am not making purchase within a week she will not allow me to buy ANY new cards. Yep, my graphic card fund of $700 will be used toward her fashion shopping. I don't see myself stick with the 5870 any longer.

Either that or 980Ti. Or I will be buying $700 worth of newegg gift cards first.
