Yes, I am sure. that law is stuck within each province, and as such, laws differ from where you are in the country. It's actually a city by-law that I refer to.

The bit you refer to was pushed by those pushing public breast-feeding. Boobs are a source of food for little ones..asses are used to sit on, to defecate, or sex. there is a reason that girls in Ontario can be topless, but NOT bottomless.

Here, sex shops and lingerie shops cannot have thier wares viewed from the street...they can from inside a mall though. You also cannot display tobacco products, even inside a store, etc...

To me censure should not be taken lightly, when you take that road you won't know where to stop, I believe that there are basics, like explicit nudity, violence, use of drugs etc, everything but that should be considered freedom of choice. It may be uncomfortable to you, but there are many that like it.

Well ,you know, because of the breast-feeding slant, this is something I pay attention to. In Ontario, it's perfectly legal for a guy to walk around naked. If A guy wants to mow his lawn nude, that's fine...there's nothing immoral, indecent, etc, as it doesn't cause anyone any harm.

However, is it was a girl stripping on a pole in her back yard, that would be considered indecent, due to the sexual connotations.

Like I said, it's all about the context.

Personally, I would walk around naked if it was legal here, but it is not. I do not understand why there is such fear and such placed on the naked human form, provided it's shown in the proper context.

I've noticed a lot of people are starting to use a avatar of the female gender that is has very little if any clothing at all.

Now me, being a guy, I can appreciate the female in many ways, but I come here to ready and be part of a tech community. Not a porno community.

Personally, I think this should be against the forum rules, as it makes me a bit uncomfortable when I am at home with my family, I never know if the op's avatar will be skanky or if it will clean and tech related.

Some of you may not agree, but what about the younger people who come on here that are younger and wanting to learn early? Maybe they are 10, 13, 16, 55, I don't know but I think this community degrades itself when using this type of content.

I hope I can get some feedback and we can get this resolved as this makes me want to leave tpu

i know w1z has chimed in. just a word from us mods...we discuss this probably twice a month. not long ago we decided to have a hands-off attitude unless it was blatant porn. and if a member thought something was questionable they could report it and we could ask nicely to have it changed. we dont want to censor what people post but sometimes we have no choice. a lot of us check tpu at work and it is kinda embarrassing to have a colleague walk and see me on a site with some naked dude covering up his junk. just saying. i have decided to turn off avatars and sigs which is sad for me because most of them are hilarious. but rather than me go off and start infracting everyone it just seemed to make the most sense.

Everything I've seen on this forum in avaters has been work safe, I see no problems at all.

If I could see the same things my at my local park in the summer what's the big deal as someone having an avater depicting the same.

Having a girl as avatar or signature is, first of all pretty stupid, but there are some avatars that are not sexy, and are also absolutly stupid.

You bet, but if you read the whole thread, you'll see that I very specifically stated taht my children's TV and media consumption is highly censored by myself. Even more so, becuase what the oldest do, the younger ones want to do as well...my kids get to play Gran turismo, RockBand, etc...I don't even allow then to paly games with any violence, as that leads to the younger ones running around either punching each other, or pretending to shoot each other.

this is not a public forum, it's privately owned, so freedom of speech does not apply. Even though, on a whole, I do agree.

Once there isn't full on genitals, I don't see a problem. I don't like censorship and seeing breasts doesn't bother me, but I understand people have kids or browse at work and so on, so just once it's not too revealing I don't see a problem.
