AVG 8.0 is out btw. But yeh, why wouldnt they be updating it on a daily basis? Kaspersky 8.0 which I have installed updates every few hours.

LAst update for me was today on 7.5

Some people have complained about 8.0 being a bit bloated and more resource intensive.

Perhaps they meant not update the program? I would assume the virus definitions are the same for both versions and obviously kept up-to-date.

I'm using AVG 8 and it tends to do it itself. Although beware i think many people have been sucked in to pay for AVG 8.0 as that is the way it looks. They sort of make you go through the back door to get to the free version. Or google it.

AVG 8.0 works great and it's not too hard to find the free version. The url kind of gives it away.

Compared to obese programs like Norton, AVG 8.0 is still very efficient. The new program traps spyware that the old version didn't. I run it on my old P3 laptop without any slow downs. If I ran Norton I wouldn't have enough computing power left over to play Solitaire.

AVG 7.5 seems more lightweight than 8, I use AVG for 4 years now and have no problems so far.

I dont realy like the 8.0 version as it is more resource intensive, but you have to sacrifice that for extra protection I guess. I now use Antivir on my performance PC, as it is the only antivirus I know at the moment to be trustable and very very light.

On my work (non gaming) PC there is no reason not to use AVG 8 though, so I kept it.
