Hey guys, after having upgraded my R9 3900X with a 5900X for my main gaming rig, I'd thought of selling the CPU to recoup some cash. But I have decided to keep it and build a 'new' system to replace my ageing gaming rig. Parts that I have now. I just need the mobo:

CPU - R9 3900X
Mobo - (Undecided, a B550/X570 chipset mobo is preferred for best compatibility, budget up to 250 CAD/~185USD)
RAM - 2x 16GB Patriot Viper DDR4 4000MHz (CL18 or CL20, can't remember)
GPU - Sapphire RX 6900 XT (now in main rig, will replace it with an RX 7900 XTX)
Storage - 256GB Sabrent Rocket NVMe M.2 2280 (OS only)
Storage - Leven JS600 4TB SATA SSD (games)
Storage - 2x 1TB Samsung 860 EVO SATA SSD (games)
Storage - 1x HDD (I have some spare, will decide which to use, mostly for music/movie files, downloads)
PSU - Corsair HX1050 or Enermax MAXREVO 1500W (have both)
Case - SOLDAM XR-1 Black Knight (Recently discovered in my storeroom, had forgotten I have this badboy)

As you can see, I have the parts I need for a 'new' build, just need some more budget friendly B550 or X570 mobo suggestions. I want either one of those chipsets because I'd like problem free SAM/Resizable Bar support (I know previous gen chipsets, like the X470/B450 can have SAM enabled as well, but there may be issues). I've kinda lost touch with what's good for my R9 3900X (that is, good chipset cooling and good power handling for 12C/24T CPU). One thing more, IF possible, would like an all black mobo, or black + red themed mobo, to go with the red interior and black exterior of the case. I know I can't see my mobo/gpu due to dual side panels that do NOT have acrylic see thru cut outs, but it'd still bother me.....I'm kinda OCD that way.

When I built my main 3 odd years back, I'd gotten just about the best mobo for >8C/16T CPU in the X570 Aorus Xtreme, now my priorities have changed, I just need something that can handle an R9 3900X well, I don't particularly care about OC as I'm aiming for stability with my 2nd gaming rig. Any suggestion would be more greatly appreciated, thanks!

For what it’s worth, I have an Asus ROG Strix B550-F Gaming WiFi motherboard but I can’t really speak to quality of the motherboard because I never used it. It does have the Black (with a little red) color scheme you were looking for though. I got the board as a combo deal with a video card back when you could find a video card anywhere at a decent price.

Basically I came close to doing what you’re planning to do. Currently my main system is a RyZen 3950X on an ASRock X570 Taichi. I really, really, really, like the ASRock X570 Taichi. When it was first released it was about ~$350 USD but I’ve seen it on sale now for about ~$209. Very stable motherboard even with mismatched RAM (G.Skill DDR4 3200 kit + G.Skill DDR4 3600 kit).

I just bought a RyZen 7950X and ASRock B650 PG Riptide (with a free 32GB G.Skill DDR5 6000 2x16GB kit) instead of going for a 5950X.

The last couple of Asus motherboards have given me enough problems that I’ve tried to avoid the brand for some time now. I don’t recommend Asus motherboards anymore either obviously.

If you go x570 one thing to watch out for is the placement of the chipset fan with air cooled GPU. It seems many boards with a full size GPU could have the GPU heatsink obstructing the intake.

Any opinion on the MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk? From a couple of reviews I've read, it seems to be a pretty good board that has the power delivery to handle a 5950X....
