Back on xp and couldnt be happier

Well after after a painfull time with vista blue screening now and again and programs stopping working and closing finally had enough and gone back to good old xp the blue screen related to memory management mostly but after mem testing 3 times and using vistas own mem test 2 times it was determind i had no errors what so ever and reading on the internet seemed to suggest its driver related so till they sort out better vista drivers im back on good old stable reliable xp and so far its been really pleasent kinda missed it tbh.
Not to mention 5c cooler on my cpu in this summer heat i think i can do without DX10 for now and the vista hogging os.

xp with vista inspirat v2 installed looks very nice and works alot better.

the only reason i'm still on Xp is Vista's crappy driver compatibillity........

considering your specs, im surprised vista didnt work out for you.

lol i find it so funny i just instaled vista again b/c xp give me alot of problems

im personally using vista ultimate and i really like it, there is no right or wrong when sayin vista is good or bad its personal experience, mine has been good generally, but if some had had a bad time they will prefer xp

depends who you talk to, im pushin vista in the shop i work but thats because i know given time it will be a good OS

I have no issues with Vista x64 Ultimate. Solved couple of my problems too .

Did you try updated the firmware on some of your hardware (dvd burner specifically). My buddy was getting blue screens using vista 64bit at random times until he updated some of the firmware for his parts. After that there was no more blue screens at all.

True...it took long enough for MS to get XP polished enough to be supported by the community that they're kinda shooting themselves in the foot...SP3 wasn't that big of a deal, kinda dissapointed me overall. Sure XP was a little "snappier", but that was it.

But when I got 4GB I didn't want to go back to XP64 which is pale in comparison to Vista 64 on support...I have yet to have an issue in Vista x64, I game great, hell I even have the 3rd spot for Vantage lol! My 4GB is utilized, the OS does a good job with memory, I have it, it uses it, the world keeps on spinning...there can be those that dislike Vista...I say to them, get on x64. My worst vista experiences were on the x86 version...I'm so impressed with Vista x64 that my G/F's rig has it installed, it's stable, fast, and easy to work with, at least in my experience with it...I couldn't be happier...networking is easier, games load quickly and play smooth...that whole Xp has more gaming performance matters very little when a 9600GT plays pretty much every modern game, it'll even do Crysis on HI (not Very Hi tho....not enough card!). Granted I wouldn't be on Vista x64 if Solaris17 hadn't talked me into it, I'm glad he did...my experiences with it have been just great...if XP was this good so quickly after release, it'd be even harder for users to switch imo. Sure it's over a year after release of Vista, it's still going to have issues, XP still has issues, just gotta pick and choose what you're willing to deal with and what you're not, make the choice, be happy about it, get over it and move onto what you really use your PC for, like GAMING!

i recently switched to vista x64 and for the most part its ok ,benchmarks seem to score a fair bit lower than i did on xp but im not really a bench whore

had soem probs with a few games ,Bioshock doesnt seem to like vista much ,no sound after the intro etc ,then its hit and miss if itll run at all tbh. for a game thats not that old im surprised it doesnt work

gonna give vista another couple of weeks b4 i decide if ill keep it perm.
but every app or game that wont work under vista just annoys me that little bit more and i think itd b fine on xp

Hmm I had no issues with Bioshock that I can recall while on Vista x64...it's been a while, and I didn't play it very long, so honestly I don't recall if there was a patch or something involved...what else doesn't work for ya? Aquamark3 bench didn't work in any x64 MS OS until the recent patch...it works like a charm now...but that's not a big deal...for me I can't think of something that hasn't worked in V64.

the only thing that wont work for me is sytem mechanic but i can ignore that

games wise the only one i cant get to work is halo, im playin freelancer and dawn of war again and they both work beautifully on x64

i honestly think its wot u make of it keep it all in order and up to date along with all your games and it works brilliantly i think

i have a fair number of small apps that also no longer work

iconoid,gamehost,none of my defrag progs work on x64 that i used to use.

ive managed to get otehr apps that kinda do the same things so its no biggie ,but when i go to install an app i half expect it not 2 work tbh

Bioshock i had patched to latest version and it seems to have sound issues ,usially ok when u run it in win xp compat mode ,but it still tends to act up on occasion.
not what ud expect for a recentish game.

i also have a chess game that wont run on x64 ,forgot its name,cba digging out the cd.

all things are nothing huge ,but can be a little annoying when you know theyd be fine on XP.
But to give vista a fair go ill stick at it for another few weeks ,and i like being able to use all 4gb ram + dx10 ,so it does have some advantages
