I just got the game today and have been playing in singleplayer mode. The game seems great so far but I dont know what the heck I am doing. Should I just jump in to online play and learn as I go or what?

Also, does anyone use Gamespy Arcade? I didnt instal it because I wasnt sure.

First of all get the 1.4 patch install. then go online and join a small non ranked server to get the hang of it. or a big one. JOIN A SQUAD, it helps ALOT

It fixes all sorts of crap, defiantly more than what is listed there.

It includes 2 more maps from the original. Online only of course.

Sounds good.

How do I play online without using Gamespy?

First when in game hit this button, do not go into game as play online now. BF2 is always online.

These buttons at top organize the game. and ping is how fast you connect the lower the number the better.

These tell you about the server

Thanks for being so helpful.

I just got done playing a few battles and its amazing how some people like to ruin it for others. Some guy on my team kept reviving me so that the other team could kill me.

It wouldnt have been so bad if I could defend myself but I didnt have any weapons for some reason.

The only good part was that I would get away sometimes and run to the nearest machine gun and light them up. LOL! So I guess it wasnt all bad. Freakin' JERKS!!!

LOL some matches are better than others, somtimes you will get in a server were everyone knows how to play the game well. Other times you will get in a game and nobody knows whats going on. Playing at night and during the day is totally different for example. The hard core peeps play during the night and usualy go by the rules. I'm talking about 11PM to 6 AM or so, during the day it can get super crazy.

Well, its been fun so far. I am still getting the hang of it. I can barely stay alive long enough to fire off a shot most of the times. There are some people that are real killers. I feel like cannon fodder when I run into them.

I wonder how some players have there keyboards setup b/c they run, dive into prone, and shoot me in the head in one motion. I always have to look at the keyboard to find "z" to get into prone and by then it is too late. Any suggestions or will it just come with time?

I finally got the patch to install and now I cant get the game to run. The first time I ran the patch it failed but the game still ran fine. I was just going to leave it alone because it seemed fine the way it was. Then I started getting connection problems so I dl'd it again directly from ea.com and this time the patch was successful.

Now, the game loads just fine but once a map starts loading it just closes the game completely. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Not that anyone replies to my posts anyway but I will try once again.

A new problem:

Today, for the first time, I started getting kicked from servers with this punkbuster message:

RESTRICTION: Corrupted File/Memory (81303)

Any help/comments will be appreciated.
