I'd much rather see cinematic bullshit gone, jumping, knifing, and the rest of it. Bring back the BC2 knifing, with maybe some ice skating tweaks and call it a day, was much better than this crap.

Yea, I'd have to say BF2 and BF2142 knifing was the best for me. I knifed so many people in BF2142 it was crazy. :toast: I'm not saying I was the best, but it was the best for me out of all the other games I was playing or played.

Yeah, the cinematic crap just annoys me. Sure it looks cool now and then, but mostly it's dying while knifing, or knowing it should be a lock but you just swipe then stand there with your knife out and get shot down. I knifed a ton previous to BF3, I rarely do in BF3, I try to stay away from cinematic cut scenes that beg for me to die. So man ytiems have I tilted the guy back, watched my knife slide right into his skull, then I get shot off him and he lives, after I had already inserted my knife into him, just bs.

Yeah, need more destruction, that and the complaint above are the 2 reasons I don't enjoy BF3 as much as BC2. So hopefully we get more destruction back now that they have catered to a larger market with BF3 they might be able to go back to specializing a bit and the fans should stick with it. I'm not sure we need ArmA maps though, I think the BF series is mostly fine in it's map size as it is. I can jump on BF games and play a 10 min match then be done, I can't jump on ArmA and do that, I need to have some time devoted.

Not saying I don't like long gaming sessions, just that I don't need every single military shooter I own requiring me to invest a few hours each time I play. I mostly play 2 - 3 BF3 rounds then am done, so a short play session usually.

I agree on the game length but I was thinking more along the lines of the diverseness of the ArmA maps. take cherno for example, it has a city, followed by mountains, rolling hills, valleys and planes. With water on 2 sides and islands. Maybe BF4 could be more diverse in terrain?

Can't wait! Making it rain!!!! I wonder if I can just pay the $120 dollars to EA in singles, I'd like to return the favor.

I say just keep the animation and fix it, so when you slide your knife into him he will actually die.

People who run around try to knife others for tags are just selfish non-team players. Waste no time just shoot. Knife is the last resort or in close combat situation.

so far nothing indicates this will be anything more than a bf3 expansion. typical EA.

More like typical practices of the gaming industry these days. Milk the shit out of a franchise for the cash, rinse and repeat.

Then again its a sequel to BF3, so it shouldn't be that much different or it shouldn't be called Battlefield 4.

Still wish BF4 wasn't coming and they would make 2143 or BC3.

Don't you think it's a little early to come to any conclusions on what BF4 includes, feature wise? Could you at least wait until the reveal/teaser on the 26th?

Gully it maybe early but we know EA too well. No competition means no real need for new stuff, just a need for new commercials and a new price tag.
How will EA teaser show me what will be the feature ? I saw a building falling down within BF3 movie and what did we get after two years ? A falling animation of a tower on Caspian ?
+1 on bring back real destruction from BC2.

The thing I'm scared of is what Premium shit will they pull off now. I remember those cheap Asian FPS games that were free and had payed DLC. I strongly suspect EA of similar practices with BF4 and that they will set a price tag on 80% of games content.

Hey guys I'm just wondering how many have pre-order Oculus Rift? I"m hearing that BF4 will have Oculus Rift support. I hope to have one on pre-order before May. :toast:

BF4 + Oculus Rift = Ray Charles Elite Sniper Warrior!

Naa I tend to stay close to the keyboard and mouse for PC gaming and not some futuristic virtual boy

All kidding and self-conciousness aside, I'd be curious to try one but I sure ain't doing so via a $300 pre-order.

Well I just seen where they posted that it's not shipping with Doom 3... But they are offering something else or refund for Doom 3 enhanced edition. So, now you're only getting the Rift with 3 demos.. Those demos look cool, but will get old quick. I guess I'll wait till they have the consumer product ready. I can't justify paying 300 bucks to beta test, but it does look really cool and I hope it's a hit.

Has anyone read this over at NextPowerUp!? If so, what do you guys think about BF4 being F2P?

Awhile back, I would have said Hell no!... But since playing a few good F2P games (PathofExile, and PlanetSide2), I think I'll welcome it with open arms.

My expectations are very low. If it's F2P, that's cool as I'd rather not spend any money on it.

Yea, I just see this as an addon with out it using a new engine. This should be BF2143 or BC3, and not BF4. But I'll take any new BF game.

wow lame. Why are they tainting the BF franchise with this F2P BS? Just call it something lame like Battlefield Heroes and make that F2P. EA is so terrible.

I say just keep the animation and fix it, so when you slide your knife into him he will actually die.

People who run around try to knife others for tags are just selfish non-team players. Waste no time just shoot. Knife is the last resort or in close combat situation.

Thats the problem, knifing is an absolute horrible last ditch attempt in a CQ situation. Because last ditch effort means you are under heavy fire, and even if they do fix the registration, they will never remove that window of time that you can die as you reach towards you target, grab him, and start moving the knife towards them. Using the knife as a last ditch effort in BF3 just gets you killed. And fixing some buggy knifing will go a small ways, but not all the way. It's a crappy mechanic, and theres other ways they could imrpove upon knifing if they feel Rambo knifers are still a problem.

Which that brings up the other side of the argument. You can be killed as you are moving the knife towards your target. But the intenetion of the system is, after you have that knife in your target, you are now Superman himself. You are absolutely invincible. Damage stacks on you, but you will not die until you have finished killing that man. And so many times have I had to wait for a knife to end to even see if I stacked on enough damage. And I wait because theres been times I assumed they were dead, and I proceed on only to be shot or knifed by the target I thought was dead (but you can't kill Superman). And that most likely won't change either, they can't give you a super sweet cinematic knife if you can be killed at any point during it. It's overall a crappy system, and thats just for knifing, I'm going to continue my rant of cinematics to jumping now.

Explain how awesome it is when you are running down a slightly incline that you press jump and your solider plants his hand on an invisible wall and vaults over it? Or explain how awesome it is when you want to jump into a yellow garbage bin, but you can't you just sit there in pogo, after a few jumps you get irritated, keep slamming on jump, then just get shot in the back and die, because you were trying to leap into the damn thing for cover, but you can't trigger the damn cinematic.

I'm sorry, you can't convince me cinematics should stick around, especially with an arguement only based on rambo knifers. It's plenty possible to knife and play with teamwork, I did it all the time in BC2. It allowed me to get on flags and cap them without appearing on the minimap by firing my gun. And if people truly listened they could tell I was there, many times I would be walking around then hear a curdling gasp of a dying man being knifed, and then I knew someone was out for blood and was close.

Can't say I've ever noticed this one. And I tend to hop all over the damn place without even thinking about it...a hold over from old school FPS days.

Overall I agree, though.
