Ian Tornay, the DICE Community Manager who dropped the BF4 Beta schedule the other day, explains: It wasn't a secret (note date of artcle).

BF-Games.net today presents a summary of what we learned over the weekend.

Battlefield 4: Theme, new images and beta access the premium package
from = kettcar = | Battlefield 4 | 25/03/2013 1:30

After the launch of BF-Games in a new outfit, and with many new features we will return to this early Monday morning, back to the daily news business. The GDC is around the corner and at 27.03 we expect a first teaser for the upcoming Battlefield 4 . Until then, we naturally take an eagle eye on the net comes news that the new Battlefield and, as always, found it. Today there are new pictures, information for beta access, and perhaps even the BF4-Theme. The images and information on the beta are from relatively reliable sources, the theme has been confirmed as yet.

Battlefield 4 Theme leaked?

If you believe the source, we hear the new Battlefield 4 Theme. If agree producer and composer, two Swedes from the techno scene are responsible who have already delivered the BF Theme interpretation to BF3. Johan Skugge and Jukka Rintamaki should have also made the track to BF4. For information about whether this really is one of BF4, but there is still no reliable source.
[yt]?v=BDWKV45pHmk#![/yt]

Origin RU: Premium players have BF4 beta access

In the purchase of Russian Origin BF3 Premium is an interesting sub-point has
emerged. According to Russia Origin buyers get BF3 premium also access to Battlefield 4 Beta. We can only hope that the world is so then. The ads with the somewhat bitter taste reminds one strongly of the marketing campaign with Medal of Honor (2010), with the purchase of the title exclusive 48h previously BF3 beta access promised. Because of Keyproblemen and the chaos following the EA Support many buyers could play only 24 hours before the official beta, for some it took even longer. Many also have to own without the support MoH written and also get a Key.

Snippets with Havoc, type 98 and female model

By far aufgetauchtem material is a scene in China is becoming more likely. In the new images, a modern main battle tank of the Chinese army is seen. The Type 98 with its distinctive contours and the 125mm cannon. The abgelichtete helicopter is with great probability Mi28 Havoc, already known from previous titles. Moreover, we still see a U.S. soldier in Bad Company-pose and a woman's face of the Chinese People's Army. If the screen of the single-player is, or whether it in Battlefield 4 is now possible to take the role of a fighter, I hope we will soon be able to explain.

+1 on that ORIGIN crap but I believe this is more of a BF client issue itself so its DICE failure.

Yesterday I logged in to my wife's bro computer. He has BF3 standard + Premium installed.
Origin started downloading the whole game again because I have Premium Edition ~25 gigs

PS. Why do we need granpas pictures in a BF4 thread?

I would like to see BF4 blow me out of the water or be the sequel to BC2 in storyline but I don't trust EA to tie their own shoes right now so I'm going to follow the wait and see approach. They will not see a dime of my money until they can back up the hype with cold hard facts and proof.

Battlefieldo - Battlefield 4 final phase launched

Discussion in 'News & Updates' started by Pancake, Today at 3:36 PM.

Today DICE initiated their sixth and last phase regarding the addition of pictures to their official Battlefield 4 landing page. With this phase the landing page should be complete of the art that DICE intended to release. This time around it might be a bit different from what you would expect from the new pictures if you revise all the previous released pictures - DICE added the official Battlefield 4 title paired with the picture of the jet to the landing page, and left the phase title unchanged, phase 6 apparently is also called 'All out war'.

The jet in the picture below the 'L' could possibly be a Chinese Chengdu J-20. (A 300% zoom on the jet in the cover art for your ease)

The Chengdu J-20 in all it's glory

Compared to the zoomed-in picture:

IGN - Battlefield 4 Release Window Reportedly Outed

DICE’s sequel may be coming sooner than you think.
by Andrew Goldfarb MARCH 25, 2013

A pre-order poster has reportedly outed the release window for Battlefield 4. As posted by Chinese site Gamersky (via CVG), EB Games promotional material suggests that Battlefield 4 will be “available fall 2013” and that those who pre-order can receive a pair of dog tags.

The fall 2013 window is currently unconfirmed, but we won’t have to wait long to find out if it’s correct. Battlefield 4’s reveal is set to take place tomorrow night with a trailer to follow the next day. Last year, EA said Battlefield 4’s beta would take place this autumn but has yet to hint at the timing for the game’s actual release.

We’ve reached out to EA about the poster and will update this story with any comment we receive.

I believe its down for the count since the game is old and this one seems to be coming out sooner rather than later.

Here is a site claiming they will webcast of a Battlefield 4 presentation live. They have targetted 7:00 PM this evening. That is supposed to be a press-only event, I am pretty sure.

Battlefieldo - new Battlefield 4 details emerged

With the press conference held in Stockholm, new information regarding Battlefield 4 emerges to the surface. DICE can finally stop teasing us with pictures and hints - it's time for some cold, hard facts coming straight from the creators. Embargo or not; if we get our hands on solid information, we will share it with you. From a very credible source we can gather the following information being shared with the audience. Buckle up my fellow Battlefield enthusiasts, here's a list of the information and details released at the press conference:

  • Frostbite 2 is now just a faded memory engraved in the back of our minds. "Next Generation Frostbite Engine". Likely Frostbite 2.5 or possibly 3.0.
  • Tomorrow, Battlefield.com - the official site of the Battlefield franchise - will get a new design overhaul more fitting to the Battlefield 4 setting.
  • A new trailer concerning Battlefield 4 will show up on the official Battlefield website tomorrow.
  • Improved, more efficient destruction will be applied in Battlefield 4. Which, obviously is to be expected with an upgraded Frostbite engine.

Examiner - EA's desire to win over Call of Duty fan's knows no boundaries (Photos)

BATTLEFIELD 4 REVEAL YOUTUBE COMMENTATORS
MARCH 26, 2013, BY: NICHOLAS GIGANTE

"Twas the nights before the Battlefield 4 reveal, and all through the venue, not a Battlefield fan was spotted, not even one once. The attendee’s pockets were lined with EA's money to spare, in hopes the EA's wet dream of taking over Call of Duty was there."

Let me ask everyone a question. What draws the line between marketing genius and shady marketing tactics? More importantly, is it possible for a company to reach out to a new consumer base while adhering to the base that is already established? I ask these questions because EA has dug itself into quite the hole as of late, with the main focal point being these goals.

View slideshow: Yes, EA has their own partnership program that they are using during this event.

The past couple of weeks leading up until today, the eve of the Battlefield 4 reveal, have shown EA squandering their core Battlefield fan base by doing something completely unexpected: ignoring them. In a blind attempt to convert Call of Duty players into Battlefield fans, EA has been paying million+ subscription base Call of Duty commentators to promote their game. We have seen it over the past couple of weeks, but just how deep does this promotion go and what does it mean for the Battlefield fans supporting the game before this marketing blitz?

EA doing what it does best.

Well, pretty deep as it may seem. EA has invited countless Call of Duty only commentators to witness the reveal of Battlefield 4 in both San Francisco and Sweden while failing to invite countless, worthy, Battlefield centric Youtube commentators. This is more than just an act of good will though toward the Call of Duty commentators (and a slap in the face to the Battlefield community), as EA has put many of these commentators under strict NDA while giving them massive benefits to boot.

What do these benefits entail? Well if the rumors floating around are right, they are giving Battlefield 4 footage exclusivity to all attendees of the event and EA's own Ronku partnership program till Saturday. On top of this, all people involved get a premium CPM on all footage shown on their personal channel. It's even been said that some of these commentators received free flights, free GoPro camera and free games to boot.

Exclusivity you say? Yup, there are several rumors floating around that Youtube will be blocking all non-approved Battlefield 4 footage. EA won't be issuing strikes, but giving exclusivity to commentators for over four days is more than enough to make anyone who has supported the franchises over their Youtube career feel that much more salt in their wounds.

Now, in all honesty this is a brilliant marketing ploy by EA, and if approached correctly would have been 100% fine. EA notably has a hard-on for Activision, and they know they won't drastically increase their player base by advertising to people who they know will buy their game anyway. That does not mean they should start ignoring the community that built them to the level that they are and instead should be supporting their established players first and foremost.

Lastly, using commentators who pass them selves off as "fans" to promote their game without giving due to the notion of payment is not only a sad thing to watch for anyone who can see what is going on, but is the saddest account of self worth I have ever seen from the individuals taking part in it, considering several of these Call of Duty promoters (not calling them commentators anymore) have gone on record in the past talking about their disdain for the Battlefield series.

Here is the deal, majority of the people who watch Youtube gaming videos are unaware of the business behind it. More important so, it should be known that these commentators have intent. It is their right to promote what ever game they like, but should be done so with the consumer (listener) having knowledge of the commentators position. Money changes everything, people can't stand when companies like G4TV (remember the Doritos/Halo 4 debacle?) take advertising money to promote a game when they are a supposed source of "honest" reviews and opinions. If the Youtube community is going to move down this route of paid for product placement, than then veil of discrepancy needs to be removed in regards to the commentators intent when playing a specific game.

So what’s your thought on this? I know EA has invited several Battlefield commentators and fan sites (like Battlefieldo and MP1st) to the event, but the obnoxious promotion through "CoD Commentators" has reached a new level of obscenity. Let me know your thoughts by following me here and on twitter @NicholasGigante.

Don't think EA has it's own partnership program? Here.
