It was Dragon Valley, and I feel it was the best all around battlefield map ever made. Boy I miss that one. I would really like to see it remade, but they probably wouldn't get it right, much as the Karkand maps didn't have the same feel when they redid them in BF3.

Yeah it was great ! I loved the Armored fights from clear across the water ways and fighting over those 2 center capture points.

The new patch works pretty good had a few team dm and no issues. Saved some time not doing a fresh install. :)

only had 1 ctd on conquest. no hard locks which is not bad.

but finally got it. I couldn't hit shit with it prior. Got a new mouse I'm getting used too also.

Ah the BF2 memories. I only played it a little, but some of the maps were just awesome. Karkand, Jalalabad, Dragon Pass... And for some reason there wasn't a shit ton of fucking snipers in every game. People were actually playing normally. What the fuck happened in last few years?!

I did like to snipe from the big tower in Ghost Town. I hate snipers too, but that Tower was so great. You could see the tops of all the other buildings and snipe the shit out of other snipers. It was a great game except for how long it took to load. It still does even with today's hardware. The servers are all loaded with bot's now of I'd probably still go back and play it. I went back and played some 1942 not to long ago too. Now that isn't so great anymore. The graphics are kind of hard to deal with compared to present games. Vietnam was a total turd. Never got into it. That was a buggy POS game. 1942 is only 12 years old. Seem's longer then that to me.

In BF2, you could totally miss with the sniper rifle.

I also liked how the progress was really slow there. I had to actually play for a few days to get a fucking gun. And ranks went up REALLY slowly. That was how games were supposed to be and stay.

Yeah but there was a LOT less to unlock also man. I had 200 hours in BF2 and unlocked everything. However I had almost 300 hours in BF3 and did not unlock everything. So its really more involved now then it was back in those days. Just seems like it was harder back then because it to longer to unlock less.

People bitch today about "hit detection" in BF4. They remember BF2 looking through rose colored lenses. The hit detection in BF2 made me punch my monitor. It was horrible to say the least. You could shove a LMG up a snipers ass, unload the entire magazine and STILL MISS in BF2.

That is the good thing about sucking as bad as me. Hit detection doesn't bother you when 80% of
the players are better then you. You just chalk it up to being out drawn. If it was life and death like
real war then maybe I'd sweat it, but probably not for very long

Also the time to rank up in BF2 compared to anything after it took a heck of a long time.

As for hit detection, it has always been a complaining factor, but there are too many variables to make it right.

Most the time people who complain about hit detection are the same people who blame pencils for misspellings.

I kicked ass with the PKM in single shot mode in BF2, see an enemy, go prone and shoot,, a magazine lasted 10 minutes. Now I suck in bf4; by the time I can stop and raise my gun to fire, I am dead.

Sorry, but you're wrong. BF2/2142 hit detection was far superior. I still have the game, if you'd like to install it, I can show you what I mean.

Hit detection may be better in BF2, but hitting was much more difficult due to the random deviation within a cone of fire.

in BF2 every automatic weapon had a random cone of fire which meant a large part of your ability to kill opponents was based on luck (dolphin diving (missaplied term, should be prone-diving --Gully) was also a much too effective and goofy way to engage opponents, i've later learned it was fixed in the 2009 patch which is fair enough but taking 4 years to fix the problem can't be applauded). BF3 has replaced this archaic system of limiting the effective range of automatic weapons to a much more logical recoil and spread system (that's also tons more fun), what this means is that the more controled your bursts are the more accurate and easier to control the weapon will be. BF2 also had an awful draw distance which limited the scope of the map to players, this fact becomes immediately apparent in the B2K maps where completely new sightlines are opened up. linkz

I won't comment on hit detection for BF2 vs BF4 as I never played BF2 or own it. I can say that BF3/4 hit detection seems better then Bad Company 2s.

Well just think about placing a bipod on the shoulder of an enemy soldier and shooting 800rds per minute into his neck and missing EVERY SHOT. That's how well BF2 LMG's worked. Only decent gun was the medics L85A1 which was a carbine.

Which is funny because the real life L85A1 was junk. They have refined it since then but when it came out it was a jamomatic. Dead nuts accurate however.

So you miss every shot, even though its pretty much point blank?

Yes. As Gully said....

In BF2 every automatic weapon had a random cone of fire which meant a large part of your ability to kill opponents was based on luck

I think the LMG cone was the size of 6 football fields or Erockers fatty liver.

I remember testing out the LMG at point blank in BF2 and it was so bad I thought rounds were hitting freakin' behind me. I was 2 feet from a wall and there were 2-5 feet between where the bullets were landing. Still BF2 was a epic game I just stuck with the M4 if I remember correctly, god that game was hard.

The accuracy of this gun in BF2 was just insane.....

I remember camping on top of a crane with one on Sharqi Peninsula and getting kills at some retarded range.
