BenQ or LG TFT?

Probably ordering one of these today, just wondering if anyone owns or can find some good info on these 2 TFTs:

BenQ G2220HDA 21.5" 1920x1080 300cd/m2 40000:1 (dynamic) 5ms 16:9
LG W2242S 22" TFT Monitor 1680x1050 8000:1 300cd/m2 5ms

I'm leaning toward the BenQ right now.

i would go for LG monitors,tey look much nicer and LG are famous for their PC monitors i think =p

Tough to say, the BenQ looks like it's higher quality from the specs, but the CR numbers they put on there are nearly worthless. You at least get the extra resolution, and from the looks of things color may be a bit better too. LGs are good, but their colors tend to be a bit too jacked up for my tastes. You'd do best to find some reviews.

I'll go with the BenQ, as you say farlex at least I get a higher resolution, colour should be better and the BenQ is 1080p as well

LG are generally better quality than BenQ, really the BenQ only has the resolution going for it. I'd rather take quality over resolution, but it's up to you mate.

I agree with Darknova and AthlonX2. LG will most likely have a better quality, where as the BenQ has the higher res.

LG use Samsung parts, and I'm getting the LG now anyway, for some reason I would have to wait until Thursday for "next day" delivery on the BenQ even though every other monitor I still have time to get delivered by tomorrow

Half of the screens in the market use Samsung parts but not Samsung panels. LG Gets their panels from either LG or Philips.

LG/Philips is one company Well, it's a joint venture between LG and Philips to create LCD panels.

Phillips make pretty good TVs, so no reason to think their joint venture with LG would have them using crappy parts.

Out of 10 Philips and LG screens i have seen only 1 LG and 1 Philips screens where good and both had S-PVA panels.

I have had 10 Samsung LCDs in my life and all 10 where from good to great.

Personally i think that once you go Samsung you never look at another brand.

Yes and no. I still think my Acer has an amazing picture to it! And I use a Samsung tv as my monitor cause I got a killer deal on it.
I also look at Panasonic and Mitsubishi tv's as well. And they have good pictures.
I know its your opinion, and that may work for you, but not others.
But if Ket wants one of the 2 he listed, I think we should offer stances on both of the monitors.
And, if he is interested in other monitors around the same price/specs/so on, then offer a link, that way we all can compare and offer insight.

Personally I think LG and Philips are crap...I've used both and I used to repair TV's as well. Go with a Samsung. Philips makes some of the worst LCD TVs I have ever seen...

Acer use Samsung panels as far as I'm aware...

TBH I think you can get good quality display out of any monitor if your willing to play with the settings and fine tune them. The LG has been bought anyway. Too impatient to wait till Thursday

I've always had good results with LG monitors in the past, now their teamed with Phillips I would think quality has only improved as Phillips make great TVs. Or at least any Phillips TV I've ever looked at has had a great picture.

Please please PLEASE dont just buy by brand and those specs listed. Yes LG makes the best LCDs, but they also make the crappy panels as well. If you buy a monitor, make sure its IPS based or S-PVA based. They have better color reproduction all around, dont have black level issues, dont gradient, dont have viewing angle issues. The infamous Twisted Neumatic (TN) Film is the terrible one. Make no mistake both companies make them. Basicly its the visual quality difference between a TV and monitor. The big TVs have awesome color because of the panel type.

Granted TN panels have gotten better, but still.
The main negative of the S-IPS or S-PVA panels tend to be price. You have to really look around for a deal.

REMEMBER the panel makers are LG, Samsung, and AU Optronics (I think). All other manufacturers BUY from them. Sony=Samsung in TVs.
That dell I linked is a LG. Not the best price right there, so lemme look around.

Unless of course I wasted my time and you have those 2 choices for a completely different reason, like availability and location. If thats so then my bad!

I don't buy based on brand, I buy based on what specs are available. Annoyingly few manufacturers give full specs. From what I could find out the LG I got arriving tomorrow has zero ghosting, lighting, and colour bleeding issues, a reasonable contrast ratio and good resolution. Other niggles should be able to be sorted with some fine tuning.
