Hi, I installed a new cpu cooler and now my system will not boot. Power to fans but no signal to usb or hdmi. I cleared cmos to be sure. The only thing I can think of is that somehow the cpu socket got damaged when I was re-seating the cpu. Can anyone spot any bent pins?

its likely an optical illusion, but the whole upper section looks bent over.

The socket looks good to me, cant see any bent pins. Was there a backplate included? Could be shorting or flexing something perhaps if it's not installed right?

I think in your shoes I'd want to check the mobo/cpu still works before messing around more with the cooler, personally my first test would be to chuck the cpu back in the socket and see if it posts without the cooler (while keeping a finger on heat spreader).

I can't see any pin issues in the photo, have you the option of trying a different CPU or motherboard for vise a versa test to see if it's one or the other?

Maybe check around the socket for any damaged / missing SMDs? Is the RAM fully seated? How do the CPU contact-pads look?

Sadly that seems to be the issue....? Do you have another you could test it with? Any error codes showing on the board if it has a LCD display?

That sucks, static discharge when you were working on it perhaps? might be worth testing with different ram too, or trying the two sticks individually.

Check the cpu power/8pin/24pin maybe you forgot to plug in or just reinsert it.

Checked everything 3 times. I think what happened was the backplate of the new cooler must have shorted the board? Seems really odd though...

Daft thought, have you tried just putting a cooler back on the top of the CPU so not installing the bracket etc? Wonder if something could be shorting it out somewhere?

Looks good, sometime a too tight cooler will cause problems. Use the stock cooler

I see two possible bent pins to the left just under that middle black blank spot thing.
Looks like both are slightly pointing straight up.

Bottom right. Doesn't look like a hard fix.
Zoom in and its highlighted with a red box/dotted line.
You can see where the pin is off center.

Woops I meant I cannot find the speaker to hook into the i/o
Maybe you can hook a DMM to the pins of the speaker signal / supply and atleast get 'visual' beep codes?

EDIT: still I would suggest to check out the pin that is out of alignment first, see:

That's probrably it - Good catch @TheRagnarok

All it takes is for one pin to be misaligned and it won't do jack, that one is out of place enough to cause the problem.
A simple "Push it back over in place" fix.
