Graphics processing technology leader NVIDIA today announced that Bernhard Gleissner has been promoted to Vice President of Sales for Europe, the Middle East, Africa (EMEA) and India.

Mr Gleissner has been working within the graphics semiconductor industry for over ten years, having graduated from the Munich Technical University with a degree in electrical engineering.

Based in the company’s Munich office, Mr Gleissner joined NVIDIA as Sales Manager in 2001 and became Sales Director in 2004, during which time he was instrumental in developing NVIDIA’s market share in Central Europe. In September 2005 he was appointed as Senior Director of Sales for EMEA and India and was successful in increasing sales coverage in Western Europe and emerging markets.

Mr Gleissner’s promotion as Vice President of Sales marks NVIDIA’s strategy to consolidate sales momentum in its existing markets as well as bringing the company’s technology leadership to developing markets within EMEA and India. He explains: “NVIDIA’s extremely strong lineup of new products means we are ideally placed to address today’s emerging technology and customer sectors. One of my first priorities will be growing our sales team to ensure we are effectively positioned within EMEA and India’s new markets.”

Jay Puri, NVIDIA’s Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales, adds: “This is a very exciting time for NVIDIA as the company goes from strength to strength. Mr Gleissner has proved his capabilities to expand existing market reach and to create the proper strategies to grow NVIDIA’s business. The established and potential markets within these regions are vital for NVIDIA and I have every confidence in Mr Gleissner’s leadership to maximise the opportunities they present.”
