With so many different brands (ATI, Palit, IceQ, ASUS etc) I want to ask which is the best 4870 performance and value wise... 1GB and 512MB models...

i just bought a sapphire 512mb model and i love it. oc's well and idles at 40 C, half the temps of the stock cooler models. that and it's got a nice blue PCB.

The best is Palit's dual bios card. After that I would say the ASUS Dark Knights.

I'm getting the Palit 4870 1GB one... I'll have to put a small review on the forums... I don't plan on OCing... I've been waiting for this card to arrive for 4 weeks and SHOULD be here in 3 days... I can't wait...

I have two of the sapphires 1 Gb and at 60% fan I idle 39- 44. I only minor OCed. At full load in low 60s

I have the HD 4870 Palit Sonic Dual Edition 1GB and its very silent compared to the 2900 i had
I just use the turbo mode on the card no need to switch between the bioses.Here is review on the card.

i might add, i got that for $180 after MIR. and remains the best deal on a 4870 IMO-- three heatpipes, revised board, low price, sapphire quality....
