Best air cooler for OC'ed 2600k?

I'm debating between 3 coolers but I'm not too sure which is best for mild overclock 4.4-4.5ghz to be exact I am on a budget right now of $50

Coolermaster hyper 212 black edition- $40

Deepcool gammax 400- $20

Be quiet! Dark rock slim- $30

My case is NZXT S340 although this shouldn't be a problem with any of the ones I'm looking at otherwise I could buy a dual tower cooler

Be careful..Measure the height from top of cpu to highest point inside of case area ...The Coolmaster Evo 212 sticks up pretty high
almost 7 inches.. The gammaxx 400 is 6.1 inches ..Also the mounting is better on Gammax cooler

I know it will fit, I would like the mounting a bit more easy compared to the evo but if there is a big difference with temps it would be good to know so I don't need to buy the other.

The Scythe Fuma is $46 and equals or outperforms every air / water cooler up to $90. It beats the Hyper 212 by 11C

What kind of cases are you used to using? I have a 212 Evo and that thing is tiny. Some might even say.. Puny. Its like the size of a smurf.. 3 apples tall.. if that

Propritary HP cases they are very structurally strong and dont flex like some cases you see out there..
.They come with a six hundred watt power supply with two PCI-E 6 pin plugs for expansion power ..
Tool less design and they can litterally be Dropped kicked into another zip code without so much of a dent ..
Usb 3.0 Side door actually has a Hand activated latch to release it ...And of course the 8 dimm slots are nice

But as far as depth..I am limited to 6.0" to 6.180" tall cooler ..

I noticed you have the BeQuiet Dark Rock Slim in there and you're willing to pay $40 for the CL Master Hyper 212 which is the most boring/average cooler ever (admittedly with pretty good performance) but it wouldn't handle the 9600k I had for a few months at anything more then 4.5Ghz. It wold jump to 90C at 4.8Ghz and then BSOD...couldn't even complete a CinebenchR15 run at 4.6Ghz either - I was on a Gigabyte Z390 UD board

I'd throw a few extra quid at it and get the Dark Rock 4 or DR Pro 4, much better cooling for only a little more cash. They're slightly behind the Noctua top end coolers as well. Fan boy mode end.

Honestly a potato would cool a 2600k well.... any of those will do. For future builds after this I'd look at the CM 212 for best bang for the buck. But yeah, either will keep that thing cool at those paltry overclocks.

IMHO, a 212 is fine for cooling a stock 2600K, but OC'ing needs more cooling than it can provide. You'll be better off with a mid range, or better, cooler. I'll vouch for the Fuma as well.

I can run my 3770k at 4.3 or 4.4 with the 212, so it’s not horrible, and should be able to get close or higher since they run a bit cooler than IB?

FWIW, my h70 keeps my 2600k at around mid 60s WCG load at 4.4GHz. That said, my h70 is quite old, so that may play a factor in its effectiveness.

Really? I mean SB runs cooler because of the soldered IHS and everyone running the 2600k I seen was using a 212 or some sort of liquid back in 2011 under good temps I could be mistaken for the 3770k ?

These could run 5hz on high end air. A 212 is fine for his overclocks and more.

At this point, I would consider saving a few more bucks and springing on something from Thermalright, or Noctua, in that order. No need for an AIO if you have a cooler from them. I have no experience with Scythe, but have heard good things about them for the better part of a decade at least. I know you said 40 bucks, but that's just a smidgeon better than stock cooler performance. And I wouldn't spend 40 on a 212, that's just crazy talk, no matter how much these guys hype it up for you. I would say its worth 20. It is still on the mediocre side of the scale.

Not always as I discovered the hard way.
Ordered a Tt cooler that said (According to the item description at the egg) supports AM4 and while it may support it, didn't come with an AM4 backplate to actually be used with it.
So... Checked on how much getting one would cost, $12 for the plate and....

Get this.....
$21 just to ship it to me.

The cooler is still in it's box unused.
I do have other setups that can use it, including 1155 but no need to worry about it, have another that's similar I'm already using. TBH I probrably need to sell this one instead of letting it go to waste.

Always make sure the back plate and other stuff is included with the item before buying, you'll do yourself a favor by doing so.
