The Phanteks PH-TC14PE 140mm is an amazing cooler when you go with the 3 fan setup, and buying the two products on Amazon will run you about $114.99 USD or about the same on Newegg. No matter if you go air or liquid I would try IC Dimond Thermal Compound the best compound out there, and apply it correctly.

Here is a video from custompcreveiw from YouTube Link The video shows the blue model with the three fans attached, and overclocking an i5 2500K.

Or if you want to go insane on the fans the Sanyo Denki 140mm x 51mm with 286.01 CFM is the way to go. But they are on "Sale" :twitch: for $91.64 USD each.

Nocta D-14, though it is more expensive I believe the Phanteks is better (currently the best on the market). It also comes in different anodized colors which is pretty neat.

What socket do you have or planning on getting? cooling comes down to surface area and fan power/speed depending on the fin density. I could put together a crazy heavy heatpipe and some fans but you would have to makeshift some mounts.

The top out of the box air coolers right now are the Noctua NH-D14, Thermalright Silver Arrow, and the Phanteks PH-TC14PE. The Phanteks PH-TC14PE pulls ahead of the bunch because it comes with the mounts right out of the box for the 3rd fan.

The most insane, powerful, and nosy air cooling setup would have to be this cooler and this fan.

Silver Arrow usually falls between the D-14 and the Phanteks. Might as well get which one looks best to you because the differences between them all are very small. The Archon is close too but gives you more finger room.

I'm just going to go ahead an play captain obvious here.

With the chip you are running, if a Megahalems with a pair of 3000RPM fans isn't doing it, there isn't really an air cooler (out of the box) that is going to satisfy your needs.

This is where I insert the use of custom water cooling to allow you to push to where you are getting "too hot for comfort" on that i7. I also would like to ask what you consider uncomfortable as far as the temperature you are seeing.

Im at 4ghz and 1.30volts idle temps are 46-52c depending on room temp thats normaly at 75*+ even in winter.
I have had water cooling before but I don't want to do it again even tho I have a good case for it.

just being honest. You can get the D-14 or the Phanteks redo, but they both use silent fans with maybe 1800 RPM and ~50-60 CFM. So unless you plan to add some faster fans with more CFM, its a draw in my book.

Get an H80, use your two Scythe Kaze fans in a push-pull configuration.

They used an i7 920 @3.6GHz with 1.45v during testing.

Or improve the ventilation of your case at least.

Case design also makes a difference in the cooling aspect when your on air. I swapped out cases on my s939 rig and the full load temp dropped 8 degrees c. Now I am hovering around 45c with it. Just something to think about.

Even with rear intake on my H70 my 920 still got to 90c+ with IBT. If the chip is running fine, and is considerably cooler under real world use, you're fine as is. They can take it. If anything I'd move to one of those better coolers just so you could drop your noise level a bit.

I'd go for a decent watercooled loop any day, like the H80 which can be had around the price of some decent air coolers most of the time.

I have an Arctic i30 CPU cooler and I think at the moment it is one of the best air cooler...my CPU is approx. 40 C load. It would be a perfect decision if somebody overclocks his CPU in extreme level because the cooler has excellent cooling capacity of 320 Watts. It is practically noiseless moreover the i30 would be good without fan in case we don't overclock our CPU. The fan has a rubber absorber too which I think is very useful. And finally its price / performance rating is very good too because it costs approx $50. So to sum up, the Arctic i30 (or if somebody has AMD CPU, then he can use the A30) is a great chance.

The i30 works very well at stock levels. Once I clocked the 2600K under it to a mere 4.5Ghz, it failed to cool it, miserably!

I would get Archon if it was sold here. It scales amazingly with better fans. Also with just stock fan it cools great and is super quiet. Sorry if I just state something already told...
