does any1 know or can reccomend which ati drivers to download, i know theres not much of a choice out there but im wondering because ive just done a full format and clean installation of xp, im trying to keep it as sweet as possible for as long as i can.

up until now i have installed xp setup a admin user account with password for installing all my neccessary proggis and security settings and a limited account for when im just surfing the web, gaming etc and all other windows things ;) (so the admin account wont be used if this can be helped) installed all mobo and chipset drivers, norton security suite 2005 with all the latest updates and opera 9 as i do not like ie security vulnerabilities (who does lol)

basically im trying to streamline and run xp in the safest and most efficient way and to keep it like this for as long as poss so any ideas on which ati drivers i should use ie ati 6.5, dna, omega?? or any tips tweaks etc would be well appreciated.

I tried the Omegas today, but even when I tried tweaking them a little my 3Dmark05 score was a good 250 points less than the tweaked Catalysts, so I'd recommend you stick with those.

Weird, not the case with me, but i also went straight to Omega without installing the 6.5's on my computer. When i had my x700, switching to Omega have me about an extra 200points increase. Im honestly not sure what tweaked Catalysts are able to do compared to Omega.... hmmm

I would also suggest getting them straight from ATI. I never had any better results with Omega or any other driver than the ones straight from ATI.

I think the new Catalyst 6.6 from ATI are great... better than Omega and WarCats. But if you have an older ATI card, then maybe Warcats and Omegas are better. But if you have x1k card then you should use ATI standard drivers, you get best perf and best IQ!!

Yeah... I think so... but its always a taste issue. What do you want most?? Performance or IQ?? For me Balance between them is most important. And standard Catalysts I think do the best job. Or Atleast for me they do... try them all out, and see which you like the best. My standard test is to test my favorite games, and see how well they perform and if they look as good as i want. But mostly that the game runs fluidly!! :toast:
