I've heard a lot of people say good things about Karen's Replicator. I have it installed on my machine, but am unable to use it right now.

You have to compress those contents with winrar or 7zip, and there's an option where you can say that you want to split the file in small pieces and what size those chunks will be. Choose single-layer dvd and it will split that file accordingly.

I have been using for the longest time Cobian Backup to zip and password protect a couple of folders to my Dropbox Folder. I find it very useful!

Your best bet is to just separate out the files so that it can fit on a single layer DVD. And just burn them to DVD as data. So that if you need, you can always "restore" without having the need for that particular software to use to restore the type of file that it backed up to. That's all i do.

Now if you want to back up your whole drive (bare metal), best free software out there is redo.

I would put it up against some of the paid stuff that's out there. It's been rock solid for me.

Why not get a large external USB drive and just copy the files over? That way you won't have to decompress or unzip the files if you ever want to look at or use them.
