Hey looking for recommendations for a better gfx card be it new or used. System specs are up to date and I'm currently on an rx 480 8gb. Monitor is Asus VA32AQ 1440p 60hz. Monitor upgrade down the road but 60hz is fine for now. Would prefer AMD but not opposed to Nvidia. Games I mostly play are WoW, destiny 2, division 2,apex legends and a few others. Budget is under 500 CAD. Any advice is greatly appreciated and welcomed.

Since you are playing on 1440P/60Hz, I am surprised you need an immediate upgrade as I am on same res with similarly powered 1060 6GB and haven't had too many issues. IMO, the card that offers the best gain from your current 480 to fit your 500 CAD budget and acknowledges your brand preference is probably the 5700/5700XT, which might be overkill for 1440P/60Hz but would have good staying power for several years I bet.

I would probably go for the 5700, over 40% improvement on what you currently have at 1080P.

think 1660ti/rx5700/rtx2060, all new card/fresh tech, is the only option, it suit your budget even cheaper:)
ad for me xt is still overpriced, but dunno if you can get one for a 500cad, heres is expensive as rtx2070, other optional wait for rx5600 comingsoon:)

i'd even be happy with a used Vega 56/64, it's just they are hard to find in my area on the local buy/sells and FB marketplace.

for vega56/64 heres market is worst than there, super overpriced, i can get rtx2080 galax cheaper than rx vega 64 price on local store, this is somewhat a strange pricetag and theres only few of partnertship offcial store whom stock those gpu:D

I have a reference 480 so it's loud asf . Just looking for a decent AIB card with good cooling and acoustics.

sapphire nitro 580 is very quite, faster among other rx series brand, and is cheap, i got one just for $60+ try it if you dont plan to upgrade atm and stick with slightly upgrade performance:)

for the upgrade i can say that igame/colorful rtx 2060 is very quite aswell, you barely hear any sound on 60%speed, can be hear starting 80% speed but it rarely happened on auto fan setup, never hit 70%speed, as for other model/brand 5700/1660 i cant tell for sure since i never have a chance to testing it:)
note: beware of the package, you might not satisfied with it, but you got the card, is an monster disquise as potatoes :D

Since your budget is ~500CAD (~380USD) I’d say a RX5700 non XT is your best option. It’s a 70~80% average relative increase in performance depending the resolution, compared to RX480

Go watch some 5700 and 5700xt reviews from Actually Hardcore Overclocking on youtube, look at VRMs/PCB build.

Also supposedly the 5700 can be unlocked

yes its faster enough, almost doubled rx570/580 performance, and ive seen many review that rtx2060 trade blow with rx5700, another considerable if you dont mind using old tech, gtx1070ti/gtx1080 used one, amd have potentital on oc, while rtx2060 is power efficiency (ray tracing is a bonus) and stable on stock clock, unless you like to oc gpu then rx5700 is better choice, with extreme oc setup it even can reach same tier as rtx2070, for the noise/temp i cant tell for sure:)

If you are going for either NV or AMD keep in mind that you are changing monitor. Whatever card you pick it would be great if you can later on support the GPU with monitor supporting Gsync or FereSync.
I got FreeSync 4k screen with V64 and believe me it is a great experience. FreeSync and Gsync if present and supported make a huge difference. Keep that in mind.
I'd suggest 5700 non-XT. If you are willing to stay with the 1440p screen 60Hz.

I'm leaning towards a 5700 non xt. Hopefully prices come down a bit after Xmas as CAD pricing leaves alot to be desired atm. Would really, really like to stay away from a reference model

from here it should be like this
red dragon(cheapest but good dualfan& faster)
pulse(sapphire brand, any other good!?)
gb gaming oc(quite expensive, but triplefan)from this gigabyte gaming model pay extra $35 back to 1st option with xt as abonus, xt model pricetag drop slowly here for colorful/sapphire/powercolor brands, and for ref card blower type significatnt drop, it almost at same price as non xt dual/triple fan model:)

I've seen people arguing about GB products lately. service bad, quality down a bit. Not sure how much of this is true but there's something there.

Benchmark Scores theres nothing to brag abt potato, but it can run decent 30fps fullhd with good setting:)
I've seen people arguing about GB products lately. service bad, quality down a bit. Not sure how much of this is true but there's something there.
people here mostly complaint abt therma design, the card is consider hotplate model, personally i will avoid gigabyte brand, (nvidia mini single is the most avoided gigbyte ratherthan zotac mini)but dunno since this gaming oc came with 3fan, i think it will do just fine:)

GB Gaming Oc is apparently a fairly solid 5700 model and on par with Pulse if not better based on this.
In my country they are about the same price but GB always comes with 3 year warranty while Sapphire is 2 years most of the time so I would pick GB in this case.

i'd even be happy with a used Vega 56/64, it's just they are hard to find in my area on the local buy/sells and FB marketplace.
I could sell you one of mine if you want
