hmmm, i'd have to say that stirring piece in Battlefield 1942; the load-up screen. i have that as an MP3, also, a few pieces from Deus Ex, the title music and the end credits with the pseudo electric guitar riff to name two.

I like some of the music from Half Life 2, particularly 'Track 9'. It fit perfectly with when it was played durin the game as well.

Also the music on the launcher for Far Cry 2 is pretty good when turned up load on good speakers.

Halo, no game music has matched the epic-ness and timing that soundtrack provided. Chrono Chross had some pretty great music for the PS1.

Ubisoft have a habit of getting great scores on their games - Splinter Cell and Assassin's Creed have Amon Tobin for example.

I'd also like to nominate Oblivion, nintendo as an entirety, and Half-Life 1, 2 + ep 1 2
    oh and TF2 :D

I love the music in Ground Control II: Operation Exodus. The credits and interface songs are particularly good.

Crysis is average...Chrono trigger has a way sicker sound track. Lets not forget Tales of phantasia.
