Hi There, I'm looking at Corsair Dominator and Kingston HyperX. Corsair's performance looks better in terms of overclocking and latency. The drawback is its cost.
Kingston has also good reviews and the cost is reasonable. Anything else you may recommend?

What are the system specs are you planning this for?
What is your price point?
More info would help members give you some advice.

Best being?
Your system is?

Normally, if you want the last 2-3% of performance out of your system, high-quality Samsung B-die modules, but they're not cheap.

I may avoid Corsair if it is going in a Ryzen system. Anecdotally speaking, Corsair seems to have more problems that. Others.

@Mitchie123 the good point is to start with what specs you want to use the ram with like @95Viper and @TheLostSwede already asked for.

If you want like 100% compatability check the motherboards QVL list that's ram that's been tested at what frequency, timings and more.

There is also Memory search engines for like Crucial or Kingston if you want to find ram that can be used sometimes more then on the QVL list.

Crucial: https://uk.crucial.com/
Kingston: https://www.kingston.com/en/memory

I've had a couple of UDIMM's go bad over time on different Corsair kits now.
Pretty intermittent lock ups are not fun to troubleshoot.

Just keep in mind once you go past 3000-3200mhz you're looking at negligible gains irrespective of latencies. I would advise against spending too much for a kit, it's not worth it.

Care to elaborate?

I had a pretty bad time with my kit and seen plenty posts just on TPU alone with the same issues, always with Corsair kits. I don't know what's up with them, they are just simply terrible with anything Zen/AM4 related for some reason.

I find that my favourite RAM is Gskill. I have 48GB of Gskill Ripjaws 4 3000 MHZ 15-15-15-36 and they are usually the cheapest (with good timings) you can get other than some Team Group RAM that has also worked with all of my systems. Corsair RAM is usually pretty good but as someone said with Ryzen (1st Gen anyway) you would not be able to hit the rated speed of the RAM and would have to loosen timings (based on my experience).

Patriot Viper, very good ram to tinker with but meh overclocking (I can do 4466 but not higher regardless of timings and voltages). Fantastic timings compared with others. My 19-19-19-39 4400mhz kit running @ 15-15-15-30 3666mhz (double 1833 fclk) which I checked around and couldn't find another kit that can do those timings at those speeds. There's some new G.Skill on the horizon said to be even better but it's not available yet.

Interesting, what kind of kits and version numbers? I never saw/experienced much trouble with them.

I don't know what's up with them, they are just simply terrible with anything Zen/AM4 related for some reason.
This really just depends on the ICs more than anything else... I had a 3200c16 v5.39 kit that worked perfectly fine out of the box at XMP on my Ryzen setup.

Overall Corsair kits I've used/seen are mostly quite well binned and they keep the better ICs on the more expensive SKUs, not really great for if you want to OC. Never really saw much reliability problems and they generally were some of the better value XMP kits around 3000c15-3466c17/18.

Appears there were some typos from typing on my phone. Anecdotal evidence suggests that Corsair ram has been potentially having more problems than other brands. Lots of issue threads I have looked at across forms have been using Corsair. Coincidence? Likely. But it wouldn't hurt to do some extra research if you are planning on picking up some Corsair ram for a Ryzen system.

See, B-dies again, not Hynix, which seems to have been the general Corsair issue. My 3000MHz LPX modules were Hynix and they were terrible across both of my Ryzen CPUs.
However, as you don't know what you're getting a lot of the time, it's hard to say...

B-die is best, but just for gaming the difference is marginal-to-statistical-Aida-benchmark-only though.

True, and the cost is double from cheapest LPX 3200. Here were I am LPX 3200 starts around 80€ and got these for 145€.
G.skills 3200 from 60€... and cheapest (all brands) 3466 from 90€.

Was looking to buy tridentZ 3600 CL16 or even 15/14 but at the time there was some kind of sortage on all G.Skill modules.

Which version or IC? Even at XMP?

I'd be surprised if it didn't manage XMP on the zen 2 parts, more understandable if it's the zen1/+ IMC being a wimp...
But it wouldn't hurt to do some extra research if you are planning on picking up some Corsair ram for a Ryzen system.
I think in general you want to be checking your QVLs for Ryzen systems... Most issues with RAM I've seen were for non QVL kits and were pretty much independent of the vendor.

@Zach_01 Do you get stuff like crucial ballistix sport in Greece? Generally in Europe I've found b-die somewhat more bloated price wise than in the US...

I'm using Corsair Hynix in my 2700X rig. Rated 3000Mhz at Cas 15 1.35v. I've had them running 14-13-13-32 2T 1.4v no issues.
It was motherboard specific issues I had.

B450M-A would only run the memory up to 2666Mhz at best stable. Swapped the board to a ROG B450-I gaming and was able to obtain that 3000Mhz frequency.

It's not always about the IMC or the memory it'self, but a lot of support in regards to the board you run with it.

Obviously B-Die Samsung would be the way to go. Trident Z's are very nice memory modules.

See this thread.
It didn't work with XMP and it never ran at 3200MHz.
It's the first memory on AMD's QVL...
Never got it working over 3000MHz on either a Ryzen 7 1700 or a Ryzen 7 3800X. Didn't matter if I increased the Voltage or timings, it simply wouldn't work.
It's also on my current board QVL, but not on my previous board QVL.

I'm not the only one having issues with these modules.

Obviously B-Die Samsung would be the way to go. Trident Z's are very nice memory modules.
Not really, at least not with Ryzen 3000, see my specs. I changed to Hynix CJR, which was admittedly a bit of a fluke and they can run way faster and at tighter timings than the modules are sold as. I even have 4x 8GB now running at 3800MHz 1:1 at 1.37V.

Interesting, same exact ones I had, based on my guess on how to interpret the serials they are from around the same time period (H1 2017) as well.. Mind you I never tried them with a zen/zen+ chip, only my 3600... I never tried OCing them on the 3600 but they ran the XMP without any problems, on the 7700k they ran 1.38v 3200 15 16 16 31...

Only the dual rank (16GB) variety of these 3200c16 v5.39 sticks is supported on my board's QVL...

The main thing that I find odd is that according to some reputable sources these v5.39 kits are Hynix MFR, however my sticks and the ones of a few other people I personally know were all AFR... I do wonder whether that is a factor... Though it sounds to me like it might just be Corsair doing overzealous binning...

Either way, well off topic...

B-die if price isn't a big factor, rev. E or CJR/JJR if you want cheap stuff, that's all assuming you don't mind tweaking a bit. Anything that is specifically on a board's QVL for XMP-and-forget use will probably be fine, b-die XMPs are probably going to be at the top of the performance here but at XMP you won't lose much at all by going for ICs.

@Zach_01 Do you get stuff like crucial ballistix sport in Greece? Generally in Europe I've found b-die somewhat more bloated price wise than in the US...
Yes we do. I just check it... Crucial ballistix Sport LT 16GB 3000/3200 CL16 from 70-80€. And a lot of Elite models as well.

Interesting, what kind of kits and version numbers? I never saw/experienced much trouble with them.

I have an RMA in at the moment with Corsair.

Right from beginning I was having problems with them hitting their rated speed.
On auto / SPD they wouldn't post, got them to 1500mhz (3000) using manual settings.
But they started causing system lock ups until one of UDIMMs failed completely.

Replaced them with Crucial Ballistix Sport LT and they ran @ 1600mhz via SPD out of the box, no issues at all.
