hey guys been looking around was wondering what the best video card i can put into a

dell dimension e520......PCI the power supply is only 305

im thinking THE BEST would be

XFX PVT84GUDD3 GeForce 8600GTS 256MB 128-bit GDDR3
or

Asus Radeon 1GB 256-bit GDDR5

idk much about much when it comes to compatibility with card , so any help would be great

can this system run two card?? does have two PCI solts, power supply not being upgraded :(

suggestions would be great thanks!

note: allot of people ran into the issue of cards not fitting...hitting the heatsink

Definitely not the 8600 and what Asus Radeon are you refering to? No, two cards aren't going to work in that system.

Does the PSU have a PCI-E power connector?

Well given that even the lowest AMD with 256bit GDDR5, the 4870, is a milion light-years from the 8600gts, I'd say either go for the Radeon or look for a better nVidia

the PSU does not i believe i would have to get an adapter of some sort, you said NOT the 8600? now im reading the 8800GT will fit and run fine....but some places says it wont..

i believe the ATI card was XFX ATI HD 5570, i meant to copy and paste it must not of got it all :shadedshu

what do you suggest?

8600 is old, that's why I said not to bother. 5570 would work fine, no extra power cable needed. I honestly don't know why you wouldn't upgrade your PSU as it seems you want something more than these lower end cards.

he's not upgrading the PSU as the pc is a DELL.. and the PSU's are usually custom as are the motherboard power inputs and probably wont work with just any other psu in most cases (different cables to mobo etc...).
DELL do this so that they limit the upgradability in the cheaper models.

It is worth checking though as I had a dell prescision about 5 years back that I was able to put another standard PSU inside, though i needed to dremel the case for it to fit ;)

You also need to check how many amps are on the +12v rail. I highly doubt an 8800GT will work with your PSU.

both should work. the 5570 is faster than the 9500gt you linked, that XFX card you linked is a fast card

The dell dimension e520 uses a ATX PSU standard size. so yes you could upgrade the PSU to a beefier amp/wattage

I would personally upgrade the PSU first THEN get a video card cause why spend money on a 5570 when it sux badly then want something better in the future. get a better PSU then a bigger card like a 6950 2Gb

Why would you recommend a 6950 for a computer that has at the very most, a early model core2duo CPU? Can you say bottleneck?

Well i just threw out a video card that would not have any issues slaying games, At first thought, i was thinking this was a "make my store bought PC faster!" thread.

Yea forget that whole post above. just get the cheapest/best card you can find that doesn't require additional power.

cheapest so far i could get

http://www.amazon.com/dp/95TFE8DCIC/?tag=tec06d-20

for 30$

but im thinking the 5570 is the route to go..just expensive.(well not really, just more then i wanna spend)

XFX HD-557X-ZHF2 Radeon HD 5570 1GB 128-bit DDR2 P...

goal is to get this e520 dimention put together for under 120-140$$...i need a monitor/keyboard/mouse/hard drive/and if NEEDED GPU card, but not a MUST/and if NEEDED memory, but not a MUST,its at 1.5gb.

so far i seen monitor LCD 15 or 17inch from 45-65...hard drives 25$(320gb)..keyboard mouse 20$..so theres 110$ and thats for dell parts as well(monitor and mouse/keyboard) therefore gpu card isnt out of the question. just need to find right peice...or spend extra $ on a 1gb of mem. has 1.5GB now.
