Best GPU-Z version for old video cards?

What's the best version of GPU-Z (if there is one) for old video cards, like GeForce1-2-3, Radeon 7xxx / 8xxx etc?
Lately I worked on a retro project with GeForce2 video cards and had some issues

- Any version over 0.8.5 was causing an instant system crash (black screen, no keyboard response, no BSOD, "simple" complete block)
I eneded up using v.0.6.7 but had these issues
- The GeForce2 GTS had no bandwidth data
- The GeForce2 MX400 had bandwidth data but the memory frequency was reported at double of the real (I found in an old RivaTuner changelog that this is a known issue on some MX400 cards that needs to be fixed in software for correct reporting)

I also tried a few older versions but with no difference.

These super old cards aren't really supported well.

For ATI everything should work perfectly starting with R300 / Radeon 9700 and for NVIDIA NV40 / GeForce 6800

On these old NVIDIA cards I don't know how to parse the BIOS, and don't have enough time to bother with it. Have you tried a newer version of the NVIDIA drivers? GPU-Z uses a lot of NVIDIA APIs where it can

It still shouldn't just crash. Any chance we could do a debug session through Skype (text-chat only) + TeamViewer?

Hi W1zzard,

It's an honor getting an answer directly from you, after so many years reading your reviews :respect:

Absolutely don't wanna steal you time to debug this, if you say that pre NV40/R300 cards are not really supported that's already fine for me and I will stick with 0.6.7 for the info it can show
I was wondering if there is a GPU-Z version with an older DB to support old cards that I wasn't able to find, but if the problem is general because of BIOS parsing then fine

I may try with slightly newer drivers, but this could break compatibility/performance with older games/benchmarks, so not sure if it's worth ;)

Thanks!

the crash must be fixed, as it might affect other cards/systems too, but I don't have anything with AGP, so would appreciate some time with Teamviewer on your system

ah sure, I'm glad if I can be of any help
will install TeamViewer on the system and get back to you with a private message when everything is ready so we can agree on a time slot that works for both ;)
