Hey guys my brother is going into the military soon. So he gave me this computer stuff. Here is a rundown of the goods.

Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3LR motherboard
Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q6600 processor
Corsair HX620W powersupply
Patriot Extreme Performance 6GB kit DDR3 Memory

I already currently had these parts below.
DFI LANPARTY DK X38-T2RB motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6750
G.SKILL DDR2-1200 PC2 9600 4GB(2GB x 2) Memory
Corsair CMPSU-650TX powersupply

Video cards
2 ASUS EAH4870 DK 512GB
1 SAPPHIRE HD 4870 1GB

I know I can get 3.4 out of the Q6600 and 3.6 out of the E6750 in either board.
The DFI offers me crossfire but its DDR2.
The Gigabyte offers no crossfire but DDR3 in dual channel.

I am looking for advise on what combination I should use these parts in to get the best gaming machine. Pretty much BFBC2 right now is what I play.

What parts would you combine to get the best setup?

I was thinking the same thing, Q6600 + DDR2 + crossfire. Then probably sell off the excess parts. Im just not real sure some times. Number 3 happens all the time either way.

Anyone else have any ideas or is this the agreed best combination.

Here is what I would do.

Sell your e6xxx dual core.
Sell your TX650watt power supply.
Sell your DFI motherboard.
Sell your 4gb of DDR2
Sell your Saphire HD 4870
Sell 1 of your Asus HD 4870's

Take all the profit from everything you sold above and make a system using:
q6600
Gigabyte EP45T
6gb of DDR3
HX650watt modular PSU

PURCHASE a GTX 470-HD6870 or ABOVE!

and you will have a faster rig over all compared to having the q6600/ddr2/crossfire.

Im only on Windows XP 32bit. So it wouldnt be any help. I have Win 7 64bit coming Monday. Currently I have one ASUS4870 card in RMA and one loaned out so no I have not been able to try crossfire yet.

Here is what I would do.

Sell your e6xxx dual core.
Sell your TX650watt power supply.
Sell your DFI motherboard.

I have considered selling off all of it but really do not enjoy doing the selling part. I just roughly figured what the parts you suggested selling would bring and I am thinking $300.00. I really think if I do decide to upgrade something I would like to sell everything and get into a AM3 or LGA 1366.

Selling off everything and going AM3 or lga1155/56 or lga 1366 would be my preference

I may have to just do that. I sure would like to have a simi up to date system. Untill then The DFI Q6600 DDR2 setup seems to be the best OCing combo. Also seems to fly through BFBC2 quite well right now. Ill probably sell off the excess and save up a little to do a upgrade.

Thanks for the tips and ideas.
