According to techpowerup it is a nice unit but, Im open to suggestions.

Out of curiosity, is that unit capable of running an overclocked r9 290x?

I was tempted to buy that myself. Great price. Since it's a single rail you should be fine running a 290x. I've got one in my second rig with an HX650. Never seen either of my rigs pull over 450w

That is probably the best $50 PSU out there. Love these PSU's as in terms of value and performance nothing comes close.

Yes, way more than enough to run a 290X.

iv put both the 500b and 600b in client machines none have ever had any kind of issue I would jump on the 600b ... it should handle the 290x without issue

I am currently using the Evga 500B version, the 500 watt one. Their excellent power supply, runs very silent and cool. I am pretty surprised by how good it is for the price. The box is glossy and it came well wrap. Add to that 3 years EVGA global warranty.
